I tried to give some warning that this episode was going to be rough. Oki was nothing short of just absolutely brutal. Like I said after the last episode, we dropped the atomic bombs because invading mainland Japan was going to be catastrophic as far as casualties and destruction go. It would have been on a level never seen before for both sides. War is hell, and it sucks to no end.

Yes. I feel like, Eugene holding that woman in his arms before she died, might - just might, have saved his sanity. He seemed to have come out of that hut with a new sense of purpose, a new beginning, if you will. The war ending close after that moment, might help, too.

I served in the marine corps for 7 years with three deployments. And this episode still gets to me.

Good job Nikki for having the strength to watch the hardest part of the series. The world at war was a truly horrific event and everyone who fought for their country truly deserves respect and recognition.
