Morbid, but a fun fact, a lot of the racers featured/named in this film died racing or on the track. Walt Hansgen the guy driving the green GT40 MkII. at Daytona died at LeMans in 1966 during a test lap in a J-car (a prototype of the GT40). Bruce McLaren the technical winner of the race and founder of McLaren died 4 years later in a McLaren during a test lap at Goodwood. Denny Hulme, Ken's racing partner, died in '92 of a massive heart attack behind the wheel of a BMW during the Bathurst 1000. Lorenzo Bandini the Ferrari driver, he won the 24hrs of Daytona in 1967 alongside Chris Amon(didn't die racing), he(Bandini) died at Monaco in 1967 chasing Denny Hulme down. and Ken Miles, obviously, though depicted as brake failure in the film was actually never determined , it was said to be either the brakes or aerodynamics, which they heavily modified, and was the red car at the end the GT40 MkIV.
