It's a bit of work, but not too bad! I tend only to do it for friends and as a hobby these days (like I did here), but I used to edit freelance and have enough experience that I catch a fair bit even when reading casually, and at that point it's just a matter of whether I have the energy to type it up with an explanation attached. I can't promise I'll keep doing it forever, but I probably will for at least the next while! (And from my POV, writing has always been the harder part of the equation anyway. Thanks for your hard work!)

Brother, you and me both. I had the feeling it was a mistake when I did it, and yet I couldn't stop myself. The lure of the cliff is too much.

Thank you so much for these. I only feel bad I caused so much work for you (though please keep going if the spirit compels you. lol). This is gold and I'm going to go through and make many of these changes.

I feel like you're cliffing too close to the sun if you're preemptively putting disclaimers 😅

Copy edits! > For a moment, Arthur was dragged back to the moment where he had hidden under the bushes back at his border village. Two instances of "moment" repeated very close to each other. > Holding onto Most people will not care, but if I'm being nitpicky: this should be "holding on to", with a space. While verbally indistinguishable, "on to" in "hold on to" modifies "hold on" to indicate what is being held, while "onto" indicates a relationship of being "on top of" something. The former is what you want. > He half-turned, pressing the first card into his heart. On my first read, I was actually quite confused because I didn't understand how the trap card had activated if he was still hiding the card physically on his person. I see now that he did in fact claim the card. What initially confused me was that he turned toward Second as he pressed the card into his heart, which seemed to me like it would only reveal the action to Second's perspective. (Further technical issue: previously Second was depicted as "pulling down his collar" in order to extract the Sharp as Nails card from his heart deck. This suggests bare skin contact is required to remove a card. A similar point is made very strongly at the start of chapter 3 when Arthur is putting his first card into his heart deck—it cannot pass through his shirt. Would that not create trouble for Arthur here?) This was to some degree lazy reading on my part, but you could perhaps further emphasize that he's properly claimed the card by using the special term "heart deck" instead of just "heart". > The card was golden in color as if someone had dripped sunlight onto the back, the back a twisting mass of woven vines. Close repetition of "the back". > how the back decoration "back decoration" is an awkward compound noun—consider something else, like "decoration on the back" This chapter also has some double hyphens where previous chapters used em dashes. Might have overlooked replacing those. That's all! Thanks for the chapters. I'm looking forward very much to what comes next. This is one of the stories I'm most excited for recently, and it shows a lot of promise. Keep up the great work.
