It makes sense to me. Otherwise I would expect it to be legendary. That’s a remarkably powerful effect to be able to use basically only when needed.

Benjamin Walsh

The chapter should have mentioned what he did with the Trap card. He was hiding it in his old shirt, it once he changed clothes there should have been an inner dialogue over hiding it or reabsorbing it. Also, it seems defective for a rare to not know the difference between a hostile and beneficial card effect.

Thaco4

I totally missed that part

Mech Hand

HE RIPPED IT OUT OF HIS HEART THACO LIKE A FAT TIC, heartbroken and hasn't even had a single relationship yet! Can you imagine? But his other option is to teleport all the time. He will need either a card that disables cards or a card with an active ability for him to use on himself every day so the card doesn't trigger anymore. Maybe you missed the last chapter?

Simon

He removed it so he won't get found out if/when somebody uses some sort of card skill on him.

Thaco4

Why does he have a bruised indent where his trap card 'used to be'? When did he lose the rare trap card?

Mech Hand

Just wait until Horatio finds out he has a rare card, it will happen, and then we will have some conflict and character development, followed by either betrayal or a stronger friendship

This is a good point and we absolutely will go into that. Arthur is seeing things from his POV so he doesn't realize when he's accidentally super-competent. But it'll become obvious soon.

As always, your comments always make me want to check no one else is reading my outlines. :) (That's a good thing. I enjoy your comments.)

Thank you!

The pieces that don't match is a big problem. I'd imagine there is a big market for corner pieces. That's one thing that drives the price up for whole cards. They go into shard totals in the next chapter. About 12-15 pieces for a Common, double that for an Uncommon. It goes up sharply from there.

Honour Rae

He's actually 12. People think he looks about ten or so.

Pebble

So we now know the "proper" way for Arthur to get a card, but based on what was said about his new roommate Horatio, I have a feeling Arthur will learn from him the not-so-proper ways as well. I bet Arthur's Gambling skills will get plenty of chances to grow. In a few months he'll probably be running a kitchen by day, and a gambling den by night. Though I hope Arthur will get to try many different things so he has plenty of skills by the time he leaves the Hive.

striderfighter

How old is he really?

Mech Hand

Once grow your trade -> on you grow in your trade

MagicWafflez

for an 11 year old kid? i bet he gets *a* shard a week... the rule is one card by 15 afterall...

Tycho Green

How did he not ask how many shards are required to form a card? I figured he'd try to get an estimate how many shards you can obtain in a week and how many are required for Uncommon to begin with.

MagicWafflez

yanno, it's not weird for an actual 11 year old farmboy arthur to be extremely mature... if he lost his mother young and had to fill her role in the household... he would seem rather precocious... I'm pumped about his uncommon card! how many shards are in a card though? and what do you do if you have pieces that don't match? I'm super excited for him to get a full chef's class, it's going to take some time though, and experience doing something other than chopibg things and putting them in a pot, probably edit: I just realized, it makes sense for the noble to not check the small children, if they can't even have cards yet... and those kids probably look much smaller than he's used to so he *does* look 10. phew~

JoBo12

TFTC. I hope we get a baseline as to how good his skills actually make him at tasks in comparison to other people. Red said that his lvl 12 Meal Preparation was nearly as good as a fancy restaurant so we will see if this is true and how well he holds up. It would be very interesting to know what skill lvl equivalent an average tradesman would have.
