Both the "he" and "it" is in reference to Dan. Manny's the only angel to still refer to him as 'he/him' instead of 'it' which shows he hasn't completely dehumanized Dan. Sorry if it gets confusing!

So I have been assuming the in previous pages that the "it" refers to Daniel, since he's no longer human. But they keep referring to Daniel as he. Now I'm wondering if Manny is referring to something else beside Daniel and Esther?
