Slayer Anderson

It's fixed in the doc, Patreon posts are just a pain to edit. Thanks.

Darth Bayes

Birth -> berth

In addition to the that6 you also have a “t o” rather than to and a “t he” rather than the. I did enjoy it and am interested in seeing how it’s different from the canon universe.

Heggs

Happy to help, chief o7

Guilherme Bezerra

Got to remember this is not canon Mass Effect. Wouldn't work anyway given some of the tech that is available. On the other hand you can easily see how the "big players" just can't handle Lopez. He is everything they will never be and it burns them something fierce to know he is out of their control completely. If only they knew...

Bob Saget

Surprise, some trained construction workers have a better sense of the balance of power between the hyper-intelligent super-anomaly and the rest of humanity than the species military leadership does. Sadly believable.

Slayer Anderson

I've already fixed the 6 on the doc, but you were the first to spot the randoming typo, which I've fixed now too. Due to the difficulty of changing the patreon posts, I'm only fixing the doc. But that means that the public post on QQ will be cleaner. So thanks for the effort.

Heggs

You've also got an instance of 'randoming' where I'm pretty sure you wanted 'randomly', and the number 6 made it on to the end of a word in there.

Slayer Anderson

He has a valid point, yes, even if his complaints have a ring of insincerity about them because of his personal bias.

Slayer Anderson

Black Papers are basically requests they put forward to Lopez. White Papers are Lopez's answer. Red Papers (not seen yet) are Lopez giving an advisory statement on a possible large-scale danger. One which has already been sent out in-universe would be the caution against a networked system of servitors becoming a sentient AI.

Ryune

Now I'm wondering. Are those White Papers full technical specs or actual scientific papers that allow for development? It feels like he should just be throwing the hard science at them and letting them go from there. And don't think I missed you setting up a Tallgeese situation there with the reduced sizes. I am kind of surprised that they are using both Minovesky and Ahab reactors given their proclivity to mess with other tech. All that said, I do really appreciate that he is making himself the devil they know. They can't help themselves in using his knowledge but he can definitely make it as humiliating and costly as possible to do so.

@Zerak A genophage wouldn't be a useful weapon against humans, because humans don't reproduce that fast. Salarians reproduce faster than humans. The larger problem with fighting humans is that their industrial capacity can expand exponentially - a nanofabber can produce another nanofabber. A genophage that targeted humans and not nanofabbers would be targeted in the wrong spot.

Happy early birthday

Austin

Love the story

godUsoland

Well now, I wonder when Ezekial will reveal some of what he's been up to, and the fleet he's built?

Zerak

I bet the STG won’t be happy about each human having their own DNA encrypted separately with 2 factor authentication. That means no easy fix of making humans infertile or what have you (granted artificial birth is a thing in human society by this point).

Vincent Mason

Hearing him referred to as 'That Man' just instantly made me think of Guilty Gear.

Matthew Moore

Quarian immune problems, Kepral Disease, the Ardat Yalshi, the Genohage, etc. Yeah, there would be a lot of interest in a person that could fix those, some good and some bad.

Zerak

Once first contact is made Lopez will step back on the main stage, even if not directly part of the political from for humanity, he can’t stay obscure unless he wants the humans to get harassed to hell and back with probs till they meet him. Because one look at human history (which is public knowledge) and they will realise he is the most prized asset the species known as humans have. And a few races have genetic problems that would make them stop at nothing to meet him.

Zerak

From a security perspective it is a nightmare since you know you are outclassed. The problem isn’t what is given or not, the problem is people’s paranoia, greed and jealousy.

Andrew B

For 2, you are correct

bloodalchemy

Dunning and Krueger got a laugh. You have a typo 'that6'

gaouw ganteng

Holy shit. Very nice, OP. Thank you very much for the chapter. I'd hazard a guess that next month WP will still won, simply due to the hype it's currently generating. Really can't wait for the next installment of this story.

Slayer Anderson

He's also super jelly. Like just *mad* jelly.

Slayer Anderson

Thanks, I'll fix it.

Calamity

Ah yes, the good old fashioned “I’m mad at the golden goose we quasi-banished because it keeps giving me gold eggs when it COULD give me diamonds.” What a douche. Great chapter and happy upcoming birthday!

Adam Daw

1) I chuckled at Dunnings & Krueger, so well done there. 2) I think in the context of ship building it is berth, not birth?
