Just visualize that it's a seriously aged cheese, where the lactose levels are down below 1% (really old cheddar, parmesan, muenster). Individual sensitivity may put the kibosh on this, but it's the best hope to end the temptation. It's not a panacea for everyone,

Absolutely! Many cheeses pair wonderfully with hot sauce, or chillies themselves. For myself, the acidity and heat of many hot sauces accentuate the richness of soft cheeses, and also the salty aspects of mature ripened varieties. It's not for everyone, but the characters here are in Hell, so it's fitting for hot sauce to be ubiquitous.
