Bow of Xugoth: Art (PNGs)
🕑 Added 2021-08-06 15:01:03 +0000 UTCGreetings All!
Finally set aside the hour plus to break this up!
Something fascinating to me about the idea of imprisoning or instilling iconic and amazingly strong creatures, in this case one of the Immortal Aboleth, into an item. What manner of creature is strong enough to warp a creature into a version of itself, distilling its powers into a tool? What created this abomination and font of power.
While this could easily be a cursed item, the idea that the Aboleth is always learning an aspect of its wielder and is Lawful Evil, should play out into some delightful scenarios of its own. Especially as it slowly but surely strengthens to the point that it’s user is an Aboleth Jr in power. I really dig the possibilities.
Would love to hear your thoughts and input, along with the updated titles and naming updates to bring it more inline with a more custom creation. Testing the waters, but nothing is set in stone yet.
Wide Layout: Currently being redesigned.
Updates: Art Tweaks - Multi Card Break Up.
I hope you enjoy this one! Truly, as always and ever sincerely, Thank You.

Description:
This bow appears almost slick, with its two branching arms appearing like interwoven tentacles. While it appears to be almost stone like in form and texture, it bends and flexes with a pull of the string. It leaves one puzzled, yet impressed with a masterwork quality to its shape and function. However, whenever touched, it almost feels as if you are an extension of the bow.. being used for its ends.
Fabled:
- The user can speak, read, and write Deep Speech.
- They gain +1 to attack and damage rolls made with this weapon, and its range is unaffected while submerged Underwater.
- Psychic Drain: This bow deals an additional 1d6 Psychic Damage on hit.
Ascended:
- The weapon’s bonus to attack and damage rolls increases to +2.
- Psychic Drain: The damage increases to 2d6 Psychic Damage. Once per short or long rest, the user is also able to regain hit points based on damage dealt from an attack of this bow, declaring it on hit but before the damage is rolled.
- While holding this weapon, the user gains telepathy to a range of 120ft.
- Ever Seeing Eyes: While the weapon is wielded, the user gains an additional 1d4 to Perception checks, and their Passive Perception becomes 20 if it’s not already higher.
Mythic:
- The weapon’s bonus to attack and damage rolls increases to +3.
- Psychic Drain: 3d6 Psychic Damage.
- Enslave: The user targets one creature it can see within 30ft. The target must succeed a DC:17 Wisdom Saving Through or be magically charmed by the user until they are reduced to 0 Hit Points or they are on another plane of existence than the target. The charmed target is considered under the user’s control and cannot take reactions. The user is able to telepathically speak with the target over any distance. Whenever the Charmed target takes damage, they can repeat the saving throw. On a success, the effect ends. The target can also repeat the saving throw once every 24 hours when it is at least 1 mile away from the user. The user cannot have more than one enslaved creature at a time.
- Ever Seeing Eyes: Increase the additional die rolled to a 1d6.
Xugoth Stats:
Sentience: The Bow of Xugoth is a sentient Lawful Evil weapon, with hearing and darkvision out to 120ft. The weapon communicates telepathically with its wielder and can speak, read, and understands deep speech. After every conversation, it learns a new desire of its user.
Personality: Ancient beyond measure, this bow contains the mind of an Aboleth named Xugoth. Having spent possibly eons cycling through madness and echoes of sanity within this form, its motivations fluctuate with a whim. Due to being starved for stimulus from being shunted by the outside world, it gladly trades its service for memories and experiences of the user. Biding its time until one day its gloriousness will be once again free.
