Helmet of the Snail: One-Sided.

I believe the phrase over the weekend was ‘Oh no, I’ve made another helmet.’
This item in its almost final form, mechanic and art all came at once as an idea all I did was try to translate it into being. Built around the idea of the Defender, but giving up movement speed rather than attack bonus for AC. Which one normally wouldn’t worry for some, it became a bigger trade off once Reactions became involved.
As always, inputs are welcome and encouraged! This is an entirely new take, so I’d love to hear your thoughts on the mechanic as well.
Updates: Updated art, fixed misspelling.
Truly, as always and ever sincerely, Thank You.

Description:
As the name suggests, this helm holds the characteristics of a snail's shell, with a spiraling bronze pattern gracing its sides. That, however, is not the only point of interest of a helmet that has a long and storied history. Commonly it is known for its wearer’s sluggish and slowed movements. This is balanced with the fact It offers an unique protection unlike any other, hence its rise to reverence and fabled uses.
Tabs:
- Snail Shell: At the start of the user's turn, they can Reduce their Speed to call upon the power of the helm. For every 10ft that the user Reduces their Speed, they gain a +1 bonus to AC, to a maximum of +3. This Speed Reduction and AC Bonus remain in effect until the start of the user's next turn.
- While Snail Shell is active, the user can't take Reactions.
- While wearing this helm, Opportunity Attacks against the user have Advantage.
