I’m calling this one ‘the bummer list’ - it’s hard not to notice that while 2023 has delivered some incredible games, it has come at the frankly unsustainable cost of game developers (and members of the media). With so many layoffs and company closures, it makes you wonder how this industry will stay afloat in the future.

One idea I have on the future of gaming is that AAA studios might pivot to low poly games in order to make game production cheaper and less labor intensive.

There is a substantial problem with advertising on the internet at large causing serious accessibility issues. I am autistic and have issues filtering visual information. Because of which, if some website includes animated advertising, I can not read text without either covering the ad(s) with my hands, or using an adblocker. The same applies to *any* combination of continually moving content combined with text, even if it's designed for visual reasons not related to advertising.
