I'm in the same boat as you regarding AAA games. Most AAA games that interest me these days are Nintendo ones since I know they make a bunch of series I like. If I play a game from another developer/publisher, it tends to be an indie game or an older one. I'm not even interested in Grand Theft Auto VI, which is being set up as THE gaming event of next year. That said, considering there are still several upcoming games that interest me and many games on my backlog, I can live with a lot of AAA games not appealing to me.

Games are an interesting art form where we talk about "problems" as if they are devices not functioning properly. This is true, to an extent: games are devices and machines in addition to being art. But I can't think of any other art form that invites that comparison or language. When you fix a problem in a device, it works better and more reliably: it's an objective improvement. When you fix a problem in a game, it changes the experience in a way that may or may not be better, just different. So was that really a problem? How do we determine what is or isn't a problem in a game, which is both a machine and an experience? I don't have a good answer.
