🕑 Added 2025-07-14 02:43:44 +0000 UTCThe ping pong ball broke the surface of the water and gave Sabrina quite the scare. Even in her cup, the carnival was a circus of different sounds.
"I won, I won!" she heard in a small squeaky voice. Then it was into the plastic bag, which to her felt like black magic - some otherworldly forcefield scooping up her and the environment around her. Then, the darkness of the handbag.
She considered it a miracle the forcefield didn't break. The uncapped pen left a mark behind, but the invosible wall somehow held up. The dashboard was what did it.
The heat from the sun was just too much. It was all she could think about. Only, after a minute or two, it all stopped. The uncomfortable warmth, the lethargic breathing - all of it. And Sabrina was able to take in the sights. She could see the skyline on the horizon. The water shimmering under the hot sun. She heard music [from the speakers] she couldn't have ever imagined before. The car ride was magical. Such beauty and sounds.
"I hope you enjoyed it"
The fish was pure blackness. It ate up all the light around it. It both soothed and scared her. She realized it must have happened very early on - right around when the heat stopped bothering her.
"Thank you for letting me see all of this. I never would have known"
"I know. You're welcome. "
There was one more sweet, brief moment
"Now follow me," Mort said.
And Sabrina did.
