Jun-ho had a conversation with his mom in episode 2 where she said that In-ho’s wife died because she was sick and unable to get a kidney. Because of this I believe what he said to Gi-hun was true. But, we as the audience know that his wife died so I believe he is playing as his past self. I also believe this is why In-ho entered the games in 2015 (as revealed in Season 1).

Looking at the front man perspective when taking to the main character, he was trying to show that even if he voted to leave, the ones who wanted to stay would be furious and in fear for their life (even tho I’m not in his side and they don’t know his identity), as well as greed and that same fear would’ve made them come right back anyway
