Weekly dev log #10, August 14th 2023
🕑 Added 2023-08-14 11:54:16 +0000 UTCIf last week's dev log was breezier to write, this week I barely have anything to say! Last week I made a progress report for Tumblr and… that's about it! I did fool around a bit in twine, but it was a bit of negative progress since I deleted a lot that I want to get rewritten, but, that counts as progress too! I also did finally take a long hike with nana, my dog, which was the highlight of my week. She is finally doing better! :') I hope I can get her to go for a run this week, with an all-clear from the vet. Fingers crossed!
This week I'm back to writing. I really want to finish this chapter, and I'm so close- I have been going through it and there are parts I'm deeply unsatisfied with, but this being a first draft (which I seem to be unable to accept…) it might have to stay that way. I will finish it and leave it for a week or two, and then see what emotion it creates when I read it back. I know I have some world-building problems to solve, but I am hoping the answers will come to me this week.

ofc, ofc! I know what you mean, though; the challenge that comes with, for me, writing something intense in that way is equal parts frustrating and exhilarating—a true labour of love, honestly. we learn so much from things that require passion of us. aaa, just know, lmao, that if you ever did hypothetically write something less intense, if you needed to, that I would absolutely read that as well. just love your writing like that <3 <3

Ah Alyx, thank you for saying that! Writing this story in particular is by far the hardest writing project I've ever set out to write, and I would be lying if some days I didn't curse myself for not writing a slice of life or something less intense :] but, I have no doubt it will be worth it in the end; it is worth it now, too. It has taught me so much I wouldn't trade it for the world!<3

have a lovely week lou, really genuinely very happy to hear nana's doing so much better! and you're doing great, still, I think; creativity's hard, a lot of back and forth in it, but you're building a whole lot in your words, sometimes it has to give and take in the drafts, rewrite and write, all that. you're doin' great <3
