Thank you for the chapter

If Alex could make dome that can cover the whole base then he could add ECM and physical/electronic camouflage. Which the physical is copying and simulating ground in that spot and electronic by shaping and material composition.

It was essentially complete when Na arrived. All that needed to happen was assembly of the gun components which were already ready and waiting. And Alexander made that process as simple as possible so he could recruit more of the locals.

Armo

Hm. Unless that railgun emplacement is almost complete, it doesn’t feel like this railgun is a project that can be completed in just a few days. Great to see more people drifting towards Eden’s End - they’ll all be needed when Alex’s plans ramp up.

Nah, he will write himself into a corner if he does that because you will either need another redudant character to specifically do weapons targeting, force Alexander into weapons targeting or do an arc on changing someone's opinions on something so banal as the American gun control debate. Damian's old stance on guns should be something that some core world, out of touch candy crush mom would say.

Why do I think Alexander is going to end up owning his own chunk of "outter territory" in STO space. For the record I absolutely despise NATO. I've shit turds more useful. That said, nice job with the quarantine thing. Whoever Jun's boss is seems like he's definitely in somebody's pocket. If he's some kind of regional or sector commander that's a major issue. I was wondering how you were going to get the kids to Alexander, so nice job there. Not to mention the mining ship. That alone is going to be damn useful. Making and building orbital infrastructure just got a hell of alot easier. Can't wait to see what's next.

I imagined it's cheaper on computer parts, with a basic arm tugging the weapon up and down and it spinning to change the direction you can easily imagine how simple it could work. But with the independent turret and then also a loading system that moves. You would have a lot more gimbal, but more complications and it would have to be strong enough to hold the kickback

Merlin's Fan

You could just change the target of that background story? Perhaps the computer genius refuses to program weapon targeting, because maybe that's why omni wants him. He might be the best weapon programmer and who knows how many died targeted and hit only because of his code.

It's more about how much the public care about those stations. If the pirates keep amassing tonnage, that's fine, it will justify dumping more taxpayer money into the navy. But if a lone ship with a 100 orphans start talking about the loss of their home and how badly STO officers treated them then you got a PR disaster, a reason to defund the navy and a possible primer for a trust busting movement. Supposedly they live in a democracy, not a autocratic dictatorship ( if it was they would have dispensed an extreme amount of force) Truth be told this looks like a decision OMNI took to cut corners and burrow themselves deeper into STO decision making. Edit: Scratch that, it could be a decision that came straight from STO no OMNI bribing involved made for busting down autonomous regions.

Sorry, I know you just changed this Damien thing after someone pointed out the problem with his attitude to guns in the last chapter, but I already have another plausibility nitpick for this chapter: The whole fake quarantine attempt to keep the Destiny form spreading information about the pirate attack... look, I don't know exactly what kind of communications are possible in this world, but the idea that the STO can keep the loss of - what was it - "Eight stations and two outer systems" quiet seems completely implausible, no, impossible to me: those are potentially millions of people with friends, relatives, business partners etc.

Aclys

So ships Do have energy shields of a sort, interesting...

Hammy

TFTC, interesting design choice for the gun. Maybe I am not pictureing it my head correctly, but why a dish style placement instead of a terreted design style?

Aclys

Regarding the Damien, he can be against guns and the like in principle but still realize that in an imperfect world such things are necessary, no? One can hate violence while still recognizing that it is better to carry the bigger stick when push comes to shove.
