I'm not sure how desirable it is to have mines in orbit. Here are a couple reasons why: 1. Space is freakin' huge, even in orbit. You would have to have a MASSIVE number of mines to cover all possible orbits on a planet. The resources and time needed to make those mines are just not there. 2. Blowing stuff up in orbit is something to be avoided if at all possible. The Kessler Effect is the theory that enough debris in orbit will trigger a chain reaction that will render orbital areas unusable. You do not want the Kessler Effect happening around the planet you live on. That is a good way to get trapped on that planet.

I mean that one way to look at it, but some of the old encryption can be broken in seconds because modern computers can just brute force it that fast. Though the chips he makes himself could totally have some hardcoded instructions they would be near impossible to hack.

I feel like Yulia's dog requires a military grade upgrade. Also I feel that the old CPU's should be a hell to properly hack just because they are *that ancient* Just to put it into perspective, a lot of COBOL systems are on the verge of breakdown because most people knowledgeable enough to write COBOL either are dead, retired or old enough to be your great grampa, and that is just 40 years apart from the language's original implementation. Now imagine how the heavily paywalled internet works when interacting with 400 year old tech, no one will have any idea of what to do appart from frying the systems with an EMP (Unless the STO has a 400 years old pentesting AI or the ancient chips are popular on the 2400's market)

Any thoughts on Alexander adding something like the US navy Hammerhead mine to the orbital defences?
