Merlin's Fan

It also just so happens to be spaceship glass lol, thought it would be funny if they had a whole ship under them designed to be crash landed on a planet

Merlin's Fan

Yes, but he had to print a machine to be able to process the materials to build it. I'm assuming here, that the specific factory line he had to make this material for glass wasn't in the blueprints for the outpost because he couldn't figure out how they made the dome on site.

Sindre Wirkola

Please, for my sake, change it to "married and has a child of his own" or something :p

Sindre Wirkola

"He adjusted quickly to his new environment and now he’s married with his own child and doing quite well the last time I spoke with him.”

melchi

It would just depend on what the return on investment is. The higher value stuff would have a better ROI. However, if really big ore miners and factory ships are a thing then planetside stuff could be obsolete.

Sindre Wirkola

I had to read the sentence where Nancy said her son is married with his own child several times before I understood what you meant

Gremlin Jack

Depends on what you're manufacturing and how cheap transport is. It's the same set of equations that has iPhones being made in China and South-East Asia. If the manufacturing requires very expensive but easily scalable facilities, then it makes sense to have one huge manufacturing planet which supplies everyone rather than build a new factory on every planet. Of course, that same sort of thinking leads to monopolies and military vulnerabilities, but greed trumps long-term planning most days.

ShadeByTheSea

Depends on what you consider costs. If it was material than likely yes. If you consider knowledge more valuable than the less places that knowledge is used the less chances of theft. Also in the unlikely chance the core worlds are mined out they would have to get resources out system anyway.

ShadeByTheSea

He did figure out how to build it :/ it just can't be printed. It's the stealth armor the sto ship is built of he doesn't know how to make.

Merlin's Fan

It just occurred to me that glass that the dome is made out of is rated for ships, and he couldn't figure out how they built it. What are the chances they just dropped a ship there to "build" it?

Zachary Patterson

Thank you for the chapter!

Gabriel Melnik

I have a question, isn't it cheaper to have a manufacturing facility on each populated system instead of galaxy wide supply chains?

Hammy

Got to love a good colour scheme. I won't lie I would love to see art of what his first rebuilt ship looks like. Also can not wait to see what his first built from scatch ship looks like.

Random

Great chapter

Altaan

thank you for the chapter. Cant wait to read the next one!
