I'm not sure what you mean by the 'prevent separation issues' you mentioned. Let me quickly sum up how things work, and let me know if I somehow gave of the wrong impression. Most of this is known by now, but I'll try to refrain from mentioning anything that isn't. The cards (for as far as the reader currently knows) work as follows. Handcards, 3 left, then combine. Three right, then combine. You can swap them before you combine, but if you do, there are potential issues, not in the least with the card losing % of its 'perfection'. Then, both hands need to be combined in a handcard, which will require a cardsmith. The cardsmith will combine all six cards (including combination bonusses) into a single heartcard. However, depending on the quality of the cards and their ranks, not all effects can be added. This is also why people try to get 'compatible' cards of the same 'type'. This process will do a few things. First, it unlocks soulforce, the amount of which is based on the final quality of the heartcard. The first time someone gets this, their soulforce is set. Now, the new heartcard is 'empty' and needs soulforce. I'll not go into the different ways this can be done right now. However, when the card fills up, it turns into a soulcard. At that point the handcard slots return, and someone can start fill those slots up again. Now, depending on the amount of soulpower, you either have enough to create another heartcard, or you don't. I'll not go into how that is exactly determined, but I've got a nice little math sheet for it ;) So... I just realized I don't think I've actually written down such a short version of the system for any of you to read yet. I'll probably add this explanation, with some editing in another chapter soon, perhaps as a monologue from Irwin.

Thanks for the chapter! :-)

This is an interesting turn of events saying it’s capable of refining soul cards. That basically means the new cards have paths of their own to travel down once made. So following that logic if you combine one hand into a singular card couldn’t it theoretically be possible to reforge those cards before they become heart cards and prevent separation isssues like experienced before?? And also guid the hand cards down paths that would make each hand more compatible with each other if there were issues before??
