Carrarn

Your are correct! Also, theres some more explanation in the next chapter, and I will probably clean this up in the future :)

Nicholas Del Rossi

The idea is to fill his hand slots with blood based cards create the heart card then shatter it and bully out the aspects of the cursed card during the shattering when you can remove larger aspects of a card that are to core to remove during a normal heart card forging, like the over zealous blood healing that is working even when healthy and killing the kid. Not sure exactly what outcome there expecting or how precise that outcome there aiming for is but it makes sense to me given what info we have on the kids current state. If I am missing something let me know.

Eric M

Have one issue I suspect gets addressed in a future chapter, but how does the heart card shattering technique come into play here when this kid only has 2 hand cards? Don't get me wrong, I'd like him to master the technique, but feels like the situation you've engineered to foster that is not actually a good fit, at least for the moment.

Antony Claughton

There must be a system for this normally. People bringing cards to smiths to upgrade. This is a bit of an odd situation though since they were reforged for a specific purpose, and who knows how useful they still are.

Nicholas Del Rossi

Prob the lord given the value of the second life card any extra forging that results from the process and came from the lords stock of cards shield probably be returned to him instead of the smith, even if the value of Irwin’s forging and consistency of forging without breaking any cards might tip the scales in his favor the second life card probably out values anything other then the value of the lords family being saved.

Nicholas Del Rossi

Admittedly I might just really want a summons and like this idea obviously it’s all on the writer to decide, they have asked for card ideas in the past, though I am not sure to what extent they intend to incorporate outside theory crafting. Could just be fun community stuff or looking for finer aspects from different perspectives instead of larger ideas like a whole summons with something as specific as the songbird phoenix tying in directly with this second life card to make this soul card, depending on how far ahead they have outlined and planed it might not even be possible without a major revision which might just not be possible even if they do like it.

Nicholas Del Rossi

Phoenix works with fire and support for it can come from past cards synergistic with it, and by focusing on the rebirth aspects of it and this second life card, you won’t need full summon support only to enhance the aspects of rebirth on both cards and maybe elemental fire effects, and song bird music/ and soul force. It fits ridiculously well, songbird phoenix summon sharing rebirth support with the second life card, and synergizing with the other soul cards and working with Irwin’s massive soul force to offset any inefficiencies.

Antony Claughton

I don’t think he’ll get a summons. He’s focussing on cards that support smithing or creating cards from ambient soul force. To be anywhere close to being as powerful as needed it would likely need support cards. Irwin doesn’t have the slots to spend IMHO. Also, don’t new cards need to fit the prior ones? A summons soulcard may be at odds with his other soulcards. Finally, dropping childhood dreams and sacrifice are part of growing up. It’s a nice dream but I don’t think it’s his path and shows maturity. It could be raised in-story as the path not taken.

Antony Claughton

So, who gets to keep the reforged blood cards? Irwin or the Lord?

Antony Claughton

mean Cardsmith ==> meet Cardsmith are controlling the people there ==> are controlling people. Maybe use “enslaving” instead of “controlling”?

Robert Reilly

Favorite part about weekends is Cardsmith

Carrarn

He can slot them but they will both not function at their capacity ans destabalize the heartcard they will bebpart of

BlodWedd

it dopped agressive and he tried to sideways reforge it unsuccessfully, he kept it to try once more in the future, hasn't been mentioned since.

Nicholas Del Rossi

Trying to remember, can you slot cards of a higher rank than your first soul card? I’m pretty sure Greldo’s first soul card was Ruby rank so if you can’t slot cards of a higher rank than that, how did he slot the diamond rank card to bring the ship into his shadow realm space? If i am miss remembering this aspect that also works

Nicholas Del Rossi

This all reminds me of that insect queen card he got from the tier 6 world. I’m trying to remember if he still has that on him it was the summon no one could slot because no one would be able to stop it from going mad and rampaging potentially killing the summoner themselves, it’s been so long. I might be remembering some of the characteristics incorrectly. I can’t even remember if he forged it or it came out like that. Really trying to remember if he still has that on him or if he left it behind or used it for something else.

BlodWedd

Two more points: the card he is working for right now is a revival card - one he hasn't personally seen and can serve as the resurrection part of the Phoenix Heartcard Also, the fire dash ability he wanted in the first card is something a Phoenix would be able to do I'm just throwing it out there

Nicholas Del Rossi

Well damn now I want him to get a phoenix song bird. I don’t think the concept of a phoenix song bird has ever entered my head, but it’s there now and it fits so well.

BlodWedd

I'm finally caught up! That was an incredible story! Now that I'm finally here, I would shamelessly make my case and suggest that Irwin's deep-seated desire for a summon be fulfilled in the next card. Why should he get a summon - essay by yours truly :D 1- It truly is the only card he ever wanted, and he mentions it repeatedly throughout the story. His longing for this summon is palpable and it would add a layer of depth to his character. 2- it is also the only card he knows his father had. 3- comic relief: the story could use more humor now and then, mainly because it seems we are soon getting into some heavy topics with a war that is likely to kill millions. How funny would it be if even his summon was better at cardsmithing than most people? But what summon will fit with a smith, you ask? Especially considering his previous cards? Leaving his first card, where he mostly took what he could get his hands on, I always thought one specific summon was fit- a songbird! The songbird would not just be a summon, it's a symbol of Irwin's journey and growth as a cardsmith. In the early story, when Irwin talks to Ambraz about his brother's summon or the still unslotted Coal, Ambraz explains that the best summons are made when a low-ranking card, Quartz or Amethyst, is reforged one stage at a time while keeping its personality. When he made his second card, he wanted some form of instrument or singing card to interact with Soulforce - songbird would have fitted. When he wanted to rid himself of gigantification - just push the effect on a small summon. Also, if you are concerned about fighting ability, a cute songbird that only sings is quartz—amethyst. However, if Irwin wants to create the best summon possible, he needs to get it at quartz and slowly reforge it—maybe it will get the fire type and turn into a phoenix by the time it's ammolite. One more point: Since it seems Irwin will be making cards out of ambient Soulforce by the time the war starts, his fourth Soulcard will be important. He already got the size, power, and senses right. What he misses is the process by which cards are created. Cards are souls, and souls are attached to beings and probably start to crystalize as life begins. A phoenix that dies and resurrects many times in front of him could serve as an inspiration to the process. Please let him have a summon sir autor! Specifically, a songbird summon. :)

Nicholas Del Rossi

Nvm I see it, the last bit about controlling the people was added right at the end.

Nicholas Del Rossi

Did anything change? It seemed fine to me and after the fix I can’t find anything different. Can someone who saw the change explain what I am missing, or rather seem to have not missed?

Carrarn

Somehow missed selecting the last lines. :/ fixed now. Thanks for pointing it out.

Nicholas Del Rossi

Seems fine to me it ends with Irwin telling Greldo to work with the lord and find a way to earn as many people as possible about the incoming invasion.

Stephen Pearson

Thanks for the (currently apparently incomplete) chapter:-p

Albert Benny Oliyakkattil

Dear Carran, the chapter ends abrubtly, I think a few words are missing at the end.

Albert Benny Oliyakkattil

Tftc!

Carrarn

Will be a small time-skip after this :)
