Just watched end. Luffy goes in wot alot of confidence and assumes he will win and does try as much as he could. Each time he loses he takes it more seriously and adopts, adapts and develops. Plus with anime they love to keep pumping emotions the reason to get more serious and most fighters can never truly release that ultimate power without someone to protect.

Iove that fact that I've described this part of the show to a 'norm' and explaining there's only ten mins left till the bomb goes of and there's nearly 5 episodes, the last 10/30 sec before the bomb was like another 2 episodes. It's done beautifully but if you haven't watch it, it seems abit much

Love this last episode! It really shows just how impactful the Strawhats are on the lives of others. They just saved an entire country! Also, I know your probably past it but episode 151. They introduce a LOT of important characters to the overall story. Remember them and REMEMBER the FIVE ELDERS lol just saying

Luffy is kinda a master in battle because his ability to adapt to anything is elite. Voice actor for Vivi is so impressive. The screams just reach into your heart. Crocodile is an evil bastard but you appreciate how great of a villain he is. It has always amazed me how Oda can create great character after great character. From what you've seen there has been a bunch but as you get further it really makes you feel like how does he do it time and time again!? Love you guys. Great stuff.

Same thing but with different perspectives = rock solid strength. That’s why WE ARE NAKAMA! I think Luffy’s perspective not to give up is from his confidence on his power and dream. Vivi’s is from her empathetic spirit and care for others

You are right! Funny that Vivi kept saying what she learnt from the crew and Luffy for never giving up. Guess that likewise people will gather likewise people, and their virtues will affect each other and resonate into multiply effects.

Good timing to upgrade so I can see this unfold! Alabasta is such a major arc that many Japanese fans love to this day. I think it has to do with the next level of storytelling Oda sensei brought for the first time. Bigger scale issues, bigger villain, more interactions from different point of views, from good people and bad people. And in these episodes (and the remaining eps) he managed to convey solid messages, life lessons to us all. Now, I can understand what Heather said about Luffy and again, Alabasta was the first arc when Luffy had to realize he had more strength than just his physical strength. Because he lost to croc twice this arc by the difference of strength and fighting skills between him and croc. And let’s not forget croc became a warlord was for something. But in this last fight, Luffy had another strength, that he borrowed from Vivi. He repeatedly said he won’t give up because she won’t give up on her country. She showed him many times the stubbornness and her will not to give up and not let the people she cares to get hurt even though it’s beyond her physical strength. She’s fighting something bigger than herself. And that’s her strength! (Vivi is a S-rank character I won’t let people tell me otherwise) That’s exactly what Luffy learned from her, in this fight Luffy is fighting something bigger than himself and made him the total opposite of croc and able to take him down, because croc despite his fighting and intelligence he doesn’t trust no one even betrayed and hurt Robin. And you’ll see further in the story how Luffy carries this principle from Vivi throughout his Journey to take down his opponents.

Heather's Tinker Bell is so adorable, just like her :) The soundtrack from the final fight Crocodile vs Luffy is Dvorak Symphony No. 9 "From the New World". In retrospect, not only this soundtrack was picked carefully to accent the epic fight and the moment (which always gave me goosebumps when watching it again and again), but also let us feel sewing all seams in the story. How far-fetched incredible story-telling.

Luffy beating crocodile with dvorak 9 is one of my favorite moments in the series to this day. Toei (the company that animates one piece) always delivers with making the big moments of every arc feel very cinematic with how they score and direct it. I think Oda's writing style also helps make things feel more cinematic.
