One of my favourite bits in these episodes is how Luffy and Zoro are so sure of each other that they can just go "you captured Zoro? He's going to cut you down" and "You took down Luffy? Yeah, right" without hesitation. I mean, sure, they both actually needed help regardless, lol, but that they so effortlessly rely on each other is one of the things I love most about their dynamic. Also, I love how Luffy just says what everybody who's watching are thinking: Mr 3's hair is in the shape on the number three, and it's on fire! Oh wow, Heather totally called that colour, that's amazing! This fight is so frustrating, it's the worst possible matchup for Luffy, who's unusually weak to manipulation, hypnosis, and all related tricks. But he's fighting it! Yeah, I always want to watch with the original voices. No matter how good a dub is, it's still a big change in character interpretation, and I want the original! Not to mention that Japanese voice actors really are in a league of their own. One reason why Japanese voice acting is this good is how they record it: they usually don't do it separately, but instead they act out scenes together, like in a movie or theatre or old fashioned radio drama. That makes dialogue flow more naturally and feel more real.

And there are a lot of reasons explained by one of the Italian voice actor ( I will not say who dub because I don't want to spoil you some character that you don't know yet and that are too important for the main story). I'll tell you the story ( or even link the actual video where he explains this) when you'll meet the character he dub๐โค๏ธ

about the dub-sub "diatribe": the original voice actors are so iconic that it is a simple choice for me. I was so used to seeing anime in Italian, but as far as I discovered the original versions, I quite often prefer the original voice actors. And you know, Italian voice actors are really good usually in TV shows or movies, but in some animated stuff, there was not the same accuracy on doing that type of adaption. I listened to the Eng-dub versions, and are no match to the original voice actors IMO.

Actually Little Garden arc was quite funny in earlier One Piece. I quite enjoyed it back in the day. Certainly the next one was next level and one of the best arc in early One Piece. I am certain you would enjoy it especially in Christmas time. :P Japanese voice actors really are next level. Their expression for emotions especially for the screaming is god-tier (not only in One Piece). It really distinguishes for many emotional heavy or really hilarious scenes. But I would not bias anything into Japanese dub. Like, for One Piece Live Action, I have watched both English and Japanese version to compare. I find it that English version is better even though Luffy, and everyone else, were voiced from their original characters. Just that it feels different. Seemed like, the characters diffuse in different universe that even original Luffy voice feels different, a different Luffy, a Luffy that I prefer hearing Inaki's voice that kind of feel.

This arc does feel like a small speed breaker for the great pacing we had going on, but trust me, the next arc will not disappoint. I'm loving re-watching One Piece with you guys! โฅ

You have to be referring to the 4Kids English dub which is heavily altered and censored. The current Funimation dub is actually very good and done by veteran english dubbers who have a ton of skin the game(they know what theyโre doing at this point).

I love the English dub personally. I think the cast really finds their voices around Baratie and only improve. I largely prefer dubs because I think they are a more immersive experience being able to focus on the art, moment and pace more. Instead if following subtitles all the time.

I watched the Dubbed before I knew what anime was and the dub feels like they are voicing a goofy children's cartoon. Later I found out there was a lot more out in the Subbed, it had far more emotion and it felt like they knew what One Piece was when they gave the crew their voices. The dubbed might have changed I don't know. But they had a fundamental misunderstanding of what One Piece was and the voices that the characters deserved to bring them to life. After all that is a voice actor's job to breathe life into a character and give them their voice.

Alright almost done with LG, then onto the next arc of the saga. Which we can say is perfect for December. Oda is really widening the cast with different organizations, Pirate crews and such all over the Grand Line. I love the next 3 arcs so much being the best of early One Piece.
