I don't think that Doctor Kureha is based on anyone is specific, but Oda has said that he finds old people really interesting, and has always thought that "what if instead of growing weak and feeble, you only got more awesome as you age?". So he writes several amazing old characters who only grows weirder and more awesome the older they get. Maybe a little weaker than they were in their prime, but that's made up by their incredible life experience. And yeah, she gives off real rockstar vibes! I do love this arc, but it's also where the flashbacks start to get a bit excessive. Just a fair warning, the anime does this a lot to fill upp the episodes when they didn't have enough new source material to adapt.

I know everyone wants/expects Jason to cry sometime during this story (talking about all of 'One Piece') but if he doesn't that's ok. Don't feel pressured to cry. I love this story and the emotional damage lol it has given me but I have never cried for it once. And I've been caught up since the beginning. I swear I'm not an emotionless robot or some tough guy either. I've just never cried so if you don't, Jason, you're not alone.

You’ll notice the arcs will get longer & longer. Most arcs range between 30-50 episodes. The longest & the most recent arc is Wano (195 ep). After Drum Island, the following 2 arcs are approx. 40 ep for each.
