Sorry everyone, there is no subtitles for us on the English version. Netflix is the only one we found in English with English subtitles. but Netflix doesn't allow screen recordings so we'll have to find a workaround, so you can read along, but until then.... Love you all H & J

I remember when death note aired for the first time, it was a time when cyber cafes still existed and I saw a lot of young otakus with death note t-shirts, this anime was a fever back then.
Jason DeVan
We will keep that in mind

btw recommend jujutsu kaisen and chainsaw man, chainsaw man has only 12 episodes and jjk only 2 season so with one piece, death note, hunter x hunter, jjk and csm u got an awesome variety of anime all different and special on their own!

btw in japanese L is voiced by the same voice actor as usopp! also be careful there are two fullmetal alchemist, the regular fullmetal alchemist and there is fullmetal alchemist brotherhood watch the brotherhood once since its reanimated without filler

I remember when I was watching it, I didnt want Light to get caught yet. It wasnt about who's side I was rooting for, but it was just entertaining to see L and Light go at it and the character development were so good. This anime is so unique because the main character is not the usual kind. Definitely a well written anime thats why its such a popular one
Regie Khemvisay
Thats a good horror one, i remember being obsessed with it for a while ahaha
Denseen Loveletter
Nice deduction on the L poser detective Jay!ππππ

What makes it so interesting is seeing two brilliant minds going at it. When you have too much power eventually it will turn you into something they weren't originally. Like if people do evil and they start saying it's for the greater good.

the dub is awesome, and i feel like a general rule of thumb for me was that if an anime aired on toonami it probably has a good dub.

If there is going to be another poll after this show I hope Parasyte is on it :)
romaiiiii
wow the dub isn't that bad, wish more dubs were like this, most VA in dub seem to be very breathy and meh.

Haha itβs all good, we are loving it! Great explanation. That was a preconceived notion we had on Light! But we also know there will be some viable lessons that will come along with it!ππππΌππΌπ«Άπ«Ά

Ryuk reminds me of one of the main characters from Afro Samurai, a 5 episode anime about a young boy who grows up trying to avenge his father's death. Samuel L Jackson is one of the voice actors and the anime is inspired a lot by western culture and hip hop/soul music. Knowing that Jason loves Bruce Lee and old Kung Fu style movies, I feel like he would love it haha
Sean
L's voice actor (Alessandro Juliani) is why I prefer dub. He was Felix Gaeta in Battlestar Galactica (2003).

Brotherhood is cool and all but they rushed to get to the stuff the 2003 version didnβt touch on and it really shows, I firmly believe 2003 starts better but when things deviate Brotherhood is the truth. You really canβt go wrong with any versions even the manga itβs all great stuff.

"The road to hell is paved with good intentions" Light is a very interesting protagonist. He has good looks, top grades, a nice family, basically the perfect life. He's narcissistic and thinks he has the right to judge others when he's most likely never been in same situation as others less fortunate. I feel like every anime suggested has been all Shonen, maybe we need to find you a slice of life anime or something so it's not all chaos and deep thinking. lol

FMA: Brotherhood dubbed is the way to go!
storitella
I agree, the English dub is fantastic! Both versions!

L's introduction is so good, he came in making big plays and it's only episode 2. I'm for the Fullmetal recommendations but people aren't mention something that should be considered is that there are two version based off of the same manga, there's the 2003 version that is 51 episode plus a Film. 2003 version was airing while the manga was still ongoing so they had to come up with an original story line after a certain point. Then we have the most recent 2009 with the subtitle Brotherhood that is 64 episodes and this version is the version most are recommending, this version follows the manga very closely because the manga was pretty much done by then. Most people are going to suggest brotherhood and I'm totally for that and it's more accessible because I don't think anyone is legally streaming the '03 version anymore...but I think there's a case to make for the older version or even a combination of both and switching to brotherhood when you hit the deviation point, anyways however you guys decide to go at it there's one thing you absolutely have to do regardless of what version you go with and that's to watch the English Dub.

Light thinks his job is more important and is the greater good, so in his mind those in his way must die even if they are innocent
