If the episodes seem shorter it's because they are gradually extending the intro. Between the opening song and showing what happened last episode sometimes the actual episode won't start until 6 to 8 minutes in .

I have family in Venice and I've been there a couple of times before. It's a magical place, no wonder Water 7 looked so mysterious but at the same time so familiar to me! π

I like to look at things in different persons perspectives. If your Paulie or one of the other craftsman in this situation, you would 100% believe your mentor which is Iceburg over anything the Strawhats say. It would be all about revenge at that point, because you think Iceburg got shot by these horrible evil pirates. As watchers we usually have more info then majority of the characters in a situation. However right now this is flipped, we are in fact as clueless as many characters right now, and a great deal of characters have more info then their even saying. This is peak writing.

Since the start of One Piece, we see that the Marines and government officials are idiots or incompetent, and the pirates are the biggest threat to the crew. But this arc is the first where you actually see the true strength of the World Government, and the arcs after that will show you what this story was actually about this whole time.

And to think that in Venice floods are normal (that's where Oda took inspiration from). With 90 cm almost two thirds of piazza San Marco's surface is flooded, with 100 cm (on average 7 times a year) the Square and the surrounding spaces are almost completely submerged. Alta marea (when water level goes over 110cm) in Venice has been happening more frequently in the last 10 years with more than 80 floodings.
