One piece goes from the most lighthearted show ever to suddenly jarring your soul with some really dark stuff. I imagine It's worse for first time anime watchers especially because a lot of them come into anime assuming its for kids.

During Skypia she made her eye show up on her hands when she was looking for Ussop when he was falling through the cloud sea remember? She also used her feet to move Gran Fall, Zorro and whyper up the giant jack too. Her flower flower powers mean she can bloom any of her parts like flower pedals.

I don’t agree. We may be biased due to what we are used to in real life which has limits, so it feels impossible to survive some attacks. But we must remember we are in a world filled with people who have super abilities and strength, where our laws don’t always apply to them. Another proof is the fact that they never get scars after being cut and stabbed multiple times. They only do when Oda wants to make a point of the severity of the attack (like Zoro with Mihawk). The normal citizen, the average Joe, dies in OP. Now, you could argue that Usopp is not like the other characters with DF power, but I have my theory on that, which I cannot say here as it’s a spoiler.

well not reviving characters is a + for oda but he ruins it imho by letting them receive impossible to survive attacks multiple times and still surviving is a heavy minus again 🤷‍♂️ if you dont wanna kill the characters then pls dont make them survive impossible attacks

The resurrection of the dead has been an ethical and moral issue for centuries. People dream about talking to their deceased loved ones for the last time, horror movies have been made about it and now AI is sparking the conversation again about digitally resurrecting the dead. Oda explored the issue in more than one way in OP, like the fact that the characters never actually get killed, even if thrown in desperate situations or if they do get killed, they are never magically brought back to life. Because he is against having to "resurrect" them like many other mangaka do when a character proves popular. In his own words, the revival of a human isn't natural, so it should not happen in manga/anime either. The controversy stems from the fact that body and soul are intertwined and cannot live one without the other, so even by bringing back a body, doesn't mean that you get that person's soul back. It's just a shell. And that's what Chopper finally understood and why he got so mad with Dr Hogback, as he completely disregarded morality in conducting his experiments. Finally, I don't think who we saw smiling was Cindry in all honesty, as Cindry's soul is that of another woman who lost her shadow to Moria. Part of her is still fighting, but it's the soul, not the corpse that is resisting.

Just a Theory I have but its entirely possible that Moria killed Cindry to get Hogback on his side. She randomly falls from the stage and then right after Moria shows up to ask for Hogback's Help. Coincidence much.

Oda tries to keep his work light due to the heaviness of the content. I think this arc balance's the highest highs and the lowest lows really well. You have fun the entire arc, until you don't, and feel nothing but the weight of the story.
