You caught Capone based off Al Capone. However a lot of the new characters are based off real pirates in history. Jewelry Bonny is based off Anne Bonney a real famous Female Pirate. Law is based off Edward Low another pirate. Captain Kid is based off William Kid. Drake is based off Sir Francis Drake. Urouge is based off a Ottoman pirate called, Oruç Reis. Hawkins is based off John Hawkins. Appo is based off a famous Chinese Pirate called Chui A-poo.

Jason, I think you could cosplay as Law way better than you could cosplay as Ace. When I first saw you, I thought you could pull off Law's look really well. Side note when I first watched the series I called Trafalgar Law, Trafanguler (as if saying angular) Law for way too long.

I believe I caught up to the anime somewhere around here 15 years ago, and then I immediately started reading the manga; I would like you to think what is like to wait a whole week (sometimes 2 or more) to continue this story. The world and lore will expand yet again!

This arc does indeed give you the bases for the future and you can totally feel it. I know you have been introduced to so many new characters and names in the last episode all at once. Don’t be scared. These names will be repeated a few more times, and this will help remembering them. The first time I only managed to remember 3 of them (Drake, Hawkins and Kid), probably because they are English names (my mother tongue) and inspired by real life sailors/pirates. You also have been introduced to what’s probably one of the darkest side of the One Piece world: slavery/human trafficking and the Celestial Dragons. You start to realise that maybe pirates are not the absolute villains the world is making them out to be. That’s so much worst out there, but unfortunately the worst is in a position of power. Shakki’s husband, the craftsman…mmh…who could he be?

Jason bringing the Rockefeller into the equation...so spot on! The Celestial Dragons left such a bad taste in my mouth after watching these episodes the first time...and to think that Oda is only really fabricating these stories and characters based on real life, although sometimes extremely amplified. There's no denying the parallels you can draw between the slavery system in this fictious world and the past/modern real slavery of our world, as they are hard to miss. It gives me the chills all the time. And it's amazing to see us all cheer for the pirates to help those people in need, when in real life we would call them terrorists or worse. It's getting deep, fast.
