You do know something about Shanks' crew.. That their sniper guy with the dreads is Usopp's Dad, Yasopp. He was in the OP live action and shown a bit very early on in the anime. Easy to forget tho :)

It’s really sad how Shanks warned Whitebeard not to let Ace go after Blackbeard, especially since Blackbeard was the one who had injured Shanks in the past. However, Whitebeard refused to listen, which ultimately led to the deaths of both of them.😭😭

I think I'll be the only one agreeing with Jason. Mihawk is very powerful, and he has already fought a powerful figure of world government in the past. and his reward is close to the current reward of luffy (in the most recent arc) also mihawk mastered the dark blade.

I think we have become a bit of a crutch for the D clan! 🤣 I swear notebooks are really gonna be indisposable as the show goes on more. For the Four Emperors confusion. Garp explained them and revealed that WB and Shanks were 2 of them. Also this next arc is so exciting for me almost as much as this one. A real first time experience is on the way!

Instead of answering “how does it get better” I’d put a question back to you: “where do the strawhats go from here”. Wanting to know the answer to that question is what keeps us all loving one piece so much. Everyone has different opinions about what the “best” arcs of one piece are, but that’s kind of besides the point. I think we’re all just as stunned as you are that the story just… keeps going. I will say just one thing to whet your appetite - I loved the current arc just as much OR MORE than marineford.

Definitely no reason to fight for Mihawk. He was initially there bcoz marines summoned him. I think he knew the fighting was gonna end in the first place now that Shanks showed up. Ure not alone on this sentiment. Mihawk is just cool like that lol

I disagree. It was a matter of respect for a friend/rival, plus he knew a fight with Shanks would be futile. Shanks doesn't need two arms to take on Mihawk. With this I am not saying one is tronger than the other, but it would definitely not be an easy win for either of them.

Yes, that's a detail that always gets missed because it's mentioned in passing by a marine. Kaidou (read Ka-ee-do) was on his way to Marineford and Shanks intercepted him and stopped him but we don't know how. It doesn't seem plausible that they got into a fight, as none of them would come out unscathed, so my opinion is that Shanks somehow convinced Kaidou to let it be and turn around. Also, getting into a fight with Shanks before going to take on the Marines/Whitebeard would have been a dumb thing to do, even for Kaidou.

"How does it get better?" For me the explanation is that One Piece story builds on itself A LOT because of the world building and the care Oda puts on the story, characters, factions, so you have this feeling that the world just keeps growing and growing. At this point i feel like the story is alive and the characters make decisions on their own, and Oda is just there to put it on the paper and show whats going on.

It's not surprising for people to forget about Shanks here, because he was fighting one of the other 4 emperor's in the New World the day before. It's mentioned briefly in the lore drops leading up to the war. That also means he settled that fight and made it from the New World to Marineford in 1 day.

Shanks is definitley a big deal in the one piece world we saw this very early on when we see mihawk meet up with him after luffy got his first bounty we found out that mihawk and shanks used to have legendary battles then, we saw shanks clash with whitebeard splitting the sky when shanks warned wb to stop ace from pursuing BB and also before marineford started we had the scene where the marines said two emperors had clashed those being shanks and kaido. The names of all 4 emperors had been revealed prior to marineford u probs just forgot lol. You guys should know a little about shanks' crew such as yassop who is ussops dad is one of the best snipers in the world and ben beckman shanks' right hand you may remember from luffys backstory. But shanks is still a character with lots of mystery around him especially with all the respect the marines and pirates both have for him. You guys still have some 10/10 episodes left to look forward to and loving the great reactions keep it up!

Garp told us Shanks is one of the top 4 pirates, they rule the other half of the grand line called the “new world”. These 4 are called the FOUR EMPERORS. White beard was also one, RIP. At this point only Whitebeard and Shanks have been introduced, the other 2 EMPERORS are still unknown although another emperor was mentioned even in this episode and his name is Kaido. In fact Shanks stopped Kaido from coming to Marineford to get involved in this war that’s why the marines were surprised because Shanks was supposed to be clashing with Kaido but somehow he is already here in Marineford. In this episode we can see that Shanks is very powerful even amongst the top of the verse. Also the scar on his face was from Blackbeard, Shanks told this when he went to meet Whitebeard to suggest stopping Ace from pursuing Blackbeard. If Whitebeard listened to Shanks all of this wouldn’t have happened but i am not complaining because this arc is peak

Swordsmen of one piece have a lot of pride. I mean Look at zoro. Just imagine what the worlds best is like. Mihawk didn’t fight shanks because he takes pity on his arm. It’s shown way back in east blue when mihawk says he’s lost interest in fighting shanks. Also the marines heavy hitters would most likely be involved in the battle taking away from a fair 1v1. It wouldn’t be a satisfying victory if mihawk were the one to win. Especially a battle of this caliber where both parties are supposed to be at the top of the food chain Also In my opinion, he had no problem fighting whitebeard and his crew because it’s just business for him. Fighting shanks is personal for mihawk

Now Shanks saves Luffy and Coby, both friends. BB did give Shanks those scars. We found out in the one episode when Shanks asked WB not to let Ace go after BB. Yes, its keeps getting better, trust in Oda.

I dont understand why people use Mihawk to "scale" Shanks on this episode, because Mihawk refused to fight...For me its more like those are friends/rivals(maybe even like brothers or cousins)without any bad blood between them. Shanks’ appearance to stop the fight is both symbolic and meaningful. Not only is he a father figure to Luffy, but Ace is also the son of his beloved former captain. Although he arrived late, he felt it was essential to retrieve Ace's body, ensuring that the Marines would not dishonor the fallen.

The amazing thing about Shanks is that he lost his arm before he ever became an emperor which says a lot about the power he has. Also he literally had a run in with another emperor on the way here and still was able to make it seemingly without a scratch. Incredible

They did mention during the Garp and Dragon reveal back in Post Enies Lobby that Shanks is one of the Four Emperors (Yonkos) but honestly, it hasn't been mentioned since so it makes that Jason forgot - good on you for remembering though Heather. :D Also, Shanks always had those three scars across his eye, and back when Shanks warned Whitebeard to pull Ace back he mentioned that Blackbeard was the one that gave him those scars. Thus, Blackbeard's remark on it was very much a personal threat to Shanks.
