This is by far one of my favorite movies and my favorite luffy outfit from them all. I started my one piece journey when it was in episode 400 more or less so i binged until marine ford and since then, I've been suffering one episode at a time. Lol you guys Rock. Nakamas 4 lyfe. 😁😁😁 P.S. I know some nakamas want you guys to take abreak but i think its whatever makes you guys happy doing, im cool with that and im sure alot of the nakamas would agree. The break is only so you guys could suffer like we did back then tbh... so in my opinion theres no need. Well Sir Jason and Madam Heather, Have a Splendid rest of your day... The crew looked so good dressing up! Apart from that, the island wouldn't be that peaceful even if Shiki wasn't there. Carnivores still going to hunt and everything in the grand line is dangerous. Am I delusional or do I remember wrongly? I though Ace was in this movie as a cameo.

This movie is one of the better ones but when you think about it Luffy really had no business defeating Shiki, he's close to Roger's level and his ability is too overpowered(the guy can literally throw island around)...as far as I'm concerned, the fight was over when Shiki trapped Luffy in water.

This movie is supposed to take place right after thriller bark before the crew gets separated. While Shiki himself and his history are all part of the One Piece Story, and Oda wrote the Story for the movie. None of what happened in the movie actually happened for the Canon Story. Your supposed to be take the Story with a grain of salt, because as Jason pointed out, Luffy should not be able to compete with someone that fought with Gold Roger.

It's worth mentioning that Oda wrote Strong World with the hero rescuing the heroine story line in mind. He said it himself in an interview. I'm also with you on how I really like this unexplored dynamic of Luffy and Nami. It may never happen but I'm a fan of LuNa. (Every ship is valid if you enjoy it)

Strong World was the first One Piece film in which Oda personally took on a major role in production, including developing the story and script, designing characters, and more. That's why it is better than previous OP movie, by a lot.

There's a small sub section of fans that like to romantically ship certain characters together. Some fans in particular like pairing Luffy and Nami so this movie which was the first that was written by Oda seemed to fuel that ship for many fans. You guys mentioned how this movie "feels different" compared to the previous ones you watched, well it may be due to the fact that Oda himself is the one who told this story even though it isn't considered canon. Even if it may seem forced LuNa (Luffy x Nami)was definitely ignited by this movie and to this day many fans get into arguments about Strong World's significance in this unexplored dynamic in the manga. There are plenty of discussions about who Luffy and others should end up with. Some like LuHan (Luffy x Boa Handock) with good reasoning as you both have seen during the Marinford Saga, Boa is head over heels for him but Luffy doesn't reciprocate. There's also some that like to ship SaNa (Sanji x Nami) together even though that is very one sided as well, not to mention the fact that Sanji loves all women...well most women. I personally always thought that the idea that Luffy and Nami being a couple would have been cute and this movie made that feeling for me stronger. There's a sort of "Damsel in Distress" type of narrative here, like a brave knight(Luffy) saving the princess(Nami) from the evil dragon(Shiki) sorta deal. It's also noteworthy to see how Luffy reacted to Nami's message, we don't usually see him get so flustered like that but Nami saying Shiki was stronger riled him up in a unique way than how we usually see. Not to mention how embarrassed Nami was about Luffy hearing the rest of the message and how she said it was a message directed to Luffy specifically, mind you this was right after Sanji said "it sounded like a love message". Little things like that always remind me of that potential ship. Which is why this is my personal favorite One Piece film. However we need to remember that One Piece isn't a story about romance in the traditional way we see it but rather "romance" in the sense of being in love with adventure and discovery. That will always take precedence over two characters being in love with each other, even though I'd like to see it happen one day. The fact that Oda wrote this movie and gave Luffy and Nami and interesting dynamic in it that wasn't really emphasized beforehand made me think it was done purposefully however love between the Straw Hats(Sanji being the exception) for now is "forbidden" in the romantic sense, they have such a tight-knit and platonic bond similar to a family unit which many would argue, supersedes any kind of romantic connection but still, nothing is impossible, Oda has surprised us many times and I think one day each member of the Straw Hats will settle down with someone they met on their journey, whether it be among the crew or off.
