Genuinely considering whether I should remove polls or not
🕑 Added 2019-06-02 22:41:04 +0000 UTCThe poll I just had (oh the irony) convinced me that polls aren't as requested of me.
Of those 47 patrons that can vote, less than half actually vote every month...considering how much they slow things down, it's just not worth it.
On top of that, I could be working in advance, and polls force me not to do that...and the months ahead are a big question mark regarding how much time I'll have at my disposal.
I would MUCH rather drop a post like this one and discuss topics with people directly, rather than limit your options and mine with a poll. That is to say, I'm not completely taking the choice away from you guys. I just work better when I get inspired by others, rather than feeling like the results of a poll are dictating what I'm gonna have to draw.
I'll give it a couple more days, and if I do decide to remove them it's going to be next month of course, since polls this month have already began.
I do expect to have the final word on this decision, but your input is always valuable to me, so please do speak your mind!

Here's how I'm imagining a pseudo-poll v2.0.
It's the 25th of X month, I go "Hey guys. What *insert entertainment content* did you watch/listen to that buttered your muffin just the right way?
And I would (hopefully) get responses like:
"I watched a Netflix series that has this scene where the hero runs around barefoot for the whole episode"
"TOTALLY SPIES"
"Tracer"
"Fuckinnn..Sherlock Holmes in this one novel where one of the people isn't actually dead but being held captive and I wanna see a drawing of her doing X with Y"
...and so on and so forth.
I would check out the suggestions, see if my muffin gets just as buttered, and go on from there.

Again, I'll give it 24 hours to sizzle sitting on my brain. CollaredKid up here gave a really good alternative to polls as they are now and I'm 90% convinced, I just want to wait, to avoid regretting the decision just because it feels like I took it fast...as right of a decision as it may be. And again, since the GoT picture is done all that's left is the Street Fighter one which will happen regardless of my aversion to polls :)
Yeah my WIP folder is currently hosting 50+ ready pictures, and it's scratching at the back of my head like a finger on a blackboard. That is not to say I would be doing all those for the following months, of course. But it's a good idea, I could just ask people what they want to look at first, when I have more than 5 pictures ready. I will definitely do that with polls.
I say only try polls when you have several things or ideas in the works and you’d want a feel of the room. If all it does is stall your work then maybe it would be more helpful if they weren’t a thing.
