I totally agree.
A quick status update once a week should be enough to let your fans know your being active, you could also make a status bar on the overview that's updated as you make progress towards the next release just to give fans a piece of mind that you are headed in a good direction

I think you need to find a middle ground. Maybe 3 posts per week is too much for you, but going silent for weeks is not acceptable to me honestly.

I always thought posting when you have something meaningful to say/show was the way to go. While the three posts a week were nice, leaving something for the imagination is good as well. Too many previews spoils what's to come.
