Patreon Fiasco Vol. 3 & Other Things
🕑 Added 2018-08-07 20:43:01 +0000 UTC Hey everyone,Most of you already know about this because of the message I sent you, but basically what happened last week during the pledge processing cycle is that many creators noticed they have lost 20-25% of their patrons overnight.
This has happened because allegedly Patreon changed its banking from a US based to a UK based one. This caused many US patrons' banks to flag the pledge transactions as fraud as it suddenly became an overseas charge. Patreon says they are seeing normal pledge processing after a day or two. Well that could be right. It's probably working fine now. Although many creators, myself included have still lost a lot of patrons because of this. Around 3-400 in my case.
How do I know about this?
You might think that Patreon has messaged us creators about this issue. You might think they reassured us that they are doing what they can to fix things and we shouldn't worry. Well you'd be wrong.
After a thousand of my patrons have vanished overnight I thought I should check out twitter (after the huge WTF moment) to see if others have the same issue. And our dear platform Patreon indeed tweeted about the issue. A tweet. That's what we get.
Thanks to all of you I'm in a position where it doesn't mean there won't be food on the table this month or bills won't be paid, but several other creators are having these problems because of this.
I also feel bad for the patrons who genuinely want to support their favorite creators but had enough of patreon's bullshit, and understandably so.
If anyone at Patreon reads this, we ask you one thing. Please stop being noobs at your job. Thanks.

So what's new?
I got a cold (in the middle of the summer ffs), I'm working on TLM Chapter 2 at the moment, and you've managed to sway my opinion on something.
I put up a poll about Midnight Paradise's voice acting. A lot of you voted yes, but all in all I'd consider it a 50-50 vote.
However, in the post's comment section some valid arguments were brought up against the voice acting. In fact they were so on point I admitted to myself I have to rethink this.
I'm not going to list all the points made, feel free to scroll down in the posts section and check it out yourselves, but basically the 'ROI' regarding voice acting doesn't look too good in this type of game.
I'll take this into consideration moving forward.
TLM Chapter 2 is coming out soon. If you've noticed, there's no release date specified. This is something I want to experiment with and so far it's working nicely. Work is a lot less stressful like this.
Of course there is a soft deadline I set for myself, which is an August release.
This Chapter will be getting into DoD's time frame. I have some interesting scenes to give you some insight how things went when perceived from the opposite side of the MC. Last Chapter was light on erotic scenes, but I'm turning it up in this one and those of you who like a good sandwich will be happy to hear that you'll get the first DP scene in Lewdlab history ;)

i hope you will be better soon from your cold, doctor sin. anyway i have to ask : is it so hard to create your own adult game company with all the good game creator here on patreon first, a virtual one, and when you succed, make a real one with office, building etc ? because when you have your own enterprise there is no one for messing with your money, i think you should try, not on your own of course, it's maybe too much for one personne, but there is a lot of talented game creators here, you included obviously, so maybe all together you can make it, no? peace and kick the cold butt!!!
Colds in the summer are common due to increased ambient temperature helping bacteria survive longer in dust particles. Hope you get better soon.

Probably they shall change banks again to a continental European or American one if Brexit comes close and there is still no adequate deal, and this whole fiasco would happen again. In any case, the very fact they did this move now, when several important financial insitutions have already started to switch from the UK to the 27-members EU because of this very issue, tells a lot about the questionable quality of their management. I suppose they have been chasing some promised favorable deal with short-term benefits from a UK bank, without much concern or thought about the long-term picture or the side effects of a sudden switch. Anyway, the ham-fisted, heavy-handed way they have been playing morality police to cater for prudish PR issues when adult stuff is their core business already left me entirely disillusioned about Patreon.

Also a smart move from Patreon to switch to an English bank, with Brexit coming close (march 29th 2019) and still no plans, deals and treaties. I wonder how well this will work out....

Well that explains why I can't get my new card to work either. Was able to hang on this month by lowering my pledge and using a card already on file. Not sure what I can do next month
I genuinely think the situation is a lot more complicated then you’re making it out to be. I don’t think patreon is this malicious corporation that wants to ban all fetishes. Business is complicated and they probably don’t want to lose credibility. The situation sucks but I think that to just say they’re all shitty people is just wrong.
well the patreon business is just a bunch of fuct up people that think they can be the morality police and screw people over .... i am not an American so my pledges went through as for my bank they have always been an overseas transaction so that part may be true but is all sites that have adult content have the "you must be 18 to view this site" on it who gives a fuc what is on there if it is non reality based things like games or comics .....Side note but i feel it is important Lewdlabs keep on doin whatcha doin :)

Because they moved their banking, they also no longer accept prepaid credit cards which *many* people (including me) use to pay our pledges because we don’t trust patreon with our real credit cards. So all those pledges from prepaid credit cards got thrown away overnight because of patreons idiotic and unnecessary banking maneuver. Oh good no voice acting. Voice acting in games like these always sucks and makes them seem like a lower quality product.
