Once Goku got that Senzu it was all over for Piccolo being a challenge. Got that zenkai boost and thus the strength gap began to widen. ( I mean I don't really know if it's a thing until Z, but that's how I imagine it). lol

All of the rest of the episodes after this are filler. There's no more canonical content between here and Episode 1 of DBZ.

Goku didn't use his head against king Piccolo, he used his remaining arm. Regarding the remaining episodes, it's all fillers unfortunately and not even really the best amongst them :/. For DBZ, if you only watched it with the US ost, I suggest watching it with the Japanese/Euro ost, which fits more (imho) and it would be a new experience for you. It's close to DB's ost in terms of style.

It's mentioned a few times in DBZ that Goku was the former champion, before Satan took that place. I remember in particuler Videl mentioning it with Gohan when she discovered his identity.

Yeah that's the point, he couldn't use any of his limbs so Piccolo assumed he couldn't evade any attack he would throw at him, but he just did it by flying.

Yeah Goku won. That's how Videl found out who Gohan was. She looked up past tournament winners and found Son Goku, and realized with how rare last names are, Son Gohan was the child of Son Goku, the former champ (before Mr Satan).

I think Goku flew away before Piccolo's attack hit him (he couldn't use his limbs but his body could still fly ig xD)

One of the bigger misses in the dub of this episode is that it revealed that Goku can fly. He went the entire tournament without flying until the last moment to get a finishing blow against Piccolo. He also flew to stop Kami from killing the downed Piccolo.
