I used to run into this too often. Thankfully I got real good on 80's and 90's model cars, with shoving some bent hanger wire down between the window and the outside and catching the locking mechanism. Basically, fold back the rubber seal, jab the wire down with a bit of a hook, then move it around the area where you see the lock, when you catch something, give it a pull and hope it wasn't wiring or some other mechanism. Happened enough, that I could perform this within a couple minutes, once a hanger had been located and bent.
