His only television role was in Super Mario Issun-bōshi which was the second OVA in the Amada Anime Series: Super Mario Bros. which was only released in Japan. His true appearance didn't become known or canon until a child's food tray from the mid-eighties surfaced that depicted a then previously unknown Mario relative wearing yellow clothing and blue overalls while smoking a pipe which was later revealed (unsure when it was revealed) to be Mario & Luigi's father. To this day, that food tray from the mid-eighties is the only known image of Mario & Luigi's father, unless I am mistaken.

He's one sexy grandpa! His beard and belly make him all the more attractive! So my type! I love the fact that he actually smokes a pipe IN CANON which makes it all the more awesome. I honestly would love to see him in a game sometime soon! I still love Bowser just a little more though, but honestly, I would LOVE to see a bearded Daddy Bowser kidnap Papa Pio just to fool around with him! Regardless, I hope this isn't the last we will see of Papa Pio. I just learned about him and I want more of him now.
