When his husband Norris, a talented figure skater became ill with a rare disease, Dr. Fries had to put him in cryogenic stasis while he worked to find a cure. Unfortunately the cost of keeping his beloved alive indefinitely proved too much to handle, and he turned to Gotham's criminal underbelly for financial 'help.' When the good doctor was unable to pay them back however, they blew him up in his lab, which was filled with cryogenic freezing agents which soaked him, saving his life but causing him to be unable to survive outside of subzero temperatures. Thus Mr. Freeze was born, and he is driven by the desperate need to save the man he loves, and bring vengeance upon those who tried to destroy him!
