Battle Engine Update #1 - Auto-battle Simulation
🕑 Added 2020-07-20 16:29:49 +0000 UTCSorry for the low resolution, this is an exported gif the programmer sent me. So here we go! The first iteration of the battle system. It looks simple but there's a lot of functions happening in this small little test. I'll explain. This is and AI battle simulator. Things happening: there are attacks, hits, blocks, dodges, defeat and win animations. Also walks and runs.
Akumi's vs Monsters (Flesh Stalkers)
- Character will walk when out of combat and run once in combat
- Character attacks are on a global timer. This can be altered by attack speed. Each character has a percentage chance to Block and/or Dodge.
- Currently, characters can be interrupted when "hit" while in the middle of an "attack". (This happens to bottom Akumi a few times. Right as she's about to attack, she gets hit and it stops her attack.)
- You can see bottom Akumi also dodges one attack and blocks two attacks. (Her block animation has a small circular glow effect.)
- Top Akumi defeats the top monster pretty quickly. The last monster lasts a while because he blocks two attacks in a row after his friend dies. Unfortunately, I made the monsters' "Hit" animation and "Block" Animations very similar. Both have their heads tuck under but if you look closely, when blocking, I also have him bring his hands in front of his face.
This is just the beginning. A lot to polish from here. First, they need to attack immediately once battle starts. Other future updates will include camera zoom-ins on close battles making the characters large on screen. More abilities to be added, ( Heals, Magic, Stuns, Poison etc...) more character classes and skins.
I'll give updates on the engine as they happen here. Hopefully we get leaps in progress like this one each week.
Onwards and Upwards!

Akumi
Not exactly. So you'll customize your characters with different abilities you can equip and stats you gain from leveling up. Then give them basic commands for example: heal at 50% hitpoints or protect the healer. Once you've set these things up, you then send them into battle and watch how they perform. Almost like a commander watching his troops in battle. Depending on how well you equip them and prepare them will determine the battle.

Oh so like adventurequest?
Akumi
No, the battles will function more like MMO fights, characters will auto attack and performs special abilities.
Professor Q
So is it a turn base game?
Akumi
