A New Year's Poem for Hope

The world is still so fucking crappy
Is the future bleak, or is it bright?
We don’t know, it’s out of sight
But the fact that we really don’t know
Is what allows our hope to grow
To claim it’s hopeless is to claim to see
Each and every possibility
None can know what is to come
None can claim that hope is done
Things can change, and can change fast
It’s happened this way in the past
But we must take action, it is essential
And each of your actions, they have potential
“You’re a drop in an ocean”? Fuck that psyops!
Because what is an ocean but a multitude of drops?
And even if we never actually win
It’s still good to punch them in the chin
To keep on fighting! Defy, rebel
To work to overthrow this hell
It elevates the spirit
Makes it glow and shine anew
And that glow spreads to others
And can elevate them, too
To refuse to acquiesce to domination
To fight against it, win or lose
That in itself makes life more beautiful
And so it’s the path that we should choose
And as we spread our beauty
With every word and deed of fight
We raise the chances that like our spirits
Our future, too, will be so bright

Hmm now that you mention it that would have been easier! I didn't notice the wings but maybe they were damaged also. Completely agree. Maybe I focused too much on the suffering because it's something we can steer away from. Much of life to love, even with the world being a big crazy 😊

I like that story, and you tell it vividly. I really pictured it. I just wonder why the bee didn't fly. The story is good inspiration to help us conjure the strength we need to cope with life. Though I'll just add that to say "life is challenge, life is suffering" is only true in part... life is much more than this and other aspects of it are much more pleasant. :) Best wishes for 2025 and beyond!

Cheers to hope and fighting for the brighter future! Whether it comes or not... In regards to this theme, I have a memory that comes to mind. It was the morning, fresh cup of tea, sunshine pouring through the back garden with the door open. I see this bee walking by with most of its legs missing. It was limping but it purpose was strong still. It walked on by and made it's way into it's nest which was right next to the door. Not an epic story I know.. However, this very simple moment made me reflect on the bees possible journey, the challenges it may have came across and overcome, yet despite being many limbs short it still marched on to fufil its duty to the nest. If that little bee can overcome it's difficulties. Then what excuse do I have, lucky I still have all my limbs! life is challenge, is suffering and hope is the drive that points us to where we want to be.
