Comic Updates!
🕑 Added 2025-01-05 23:36:03 +0000 UTCPage 18 will be uploaded tomorrow! After that, however, Summer Won't Last will return to its 1-page per 2-weeks schedule. I was posting weekly during December to make up for my lax November as I was taking care of some important family matters. I thank you all for your amazing support and patience with me, and I apologize that things will feel like they're moving more slowly with Dachi and Levi in the coming months π
Again, the final page count will be 25. The projected end date is the latter half of April, though I do have ideas I want to pursue after this story. These future ideas will uploaded in the appropriate comics tier (Demon Takeout). Honestly, with the increase in scope, Summer should have been getting uploaded there by this point π It will remain on my basic tier until its conclusion though, because I don't like the idea of cutting off people who have been supporting me there.
I am also considering a manga-style format where I color in greyscale for future comic series, which would allow for me to tell much more story by cutting down the production time, but I'm not sure how successful that would be if too many people want nicely colored work. Feel free to tell me what you think.

Colored comics are quite a lot of work! And if anything it sounds like it'd be a worthwhile experiment to do a black and white one, see how you end up liking it. I'm down for whatever you wanna experiment with, particularly if it takes some load off you.

I am considering that as well. Not the assistant idea (I can't afford that, haha) but posting them initially as manga style, and then coloring them and posting it as the DX version, maybe selling the color vers. at comikets or something to offset the time investment. We'll see. I'd hate to disappoint people by transitioning from porn artist to mangaka though so I'd need to make time for standalone erotic works

Hi. New here. I wanted to throw in my two cents though. I subbed to you because your art is lovely, and your characters have such cute expressions and sexy bodies. That will still come across in manga style black and white. Having said that, I love full color comics and would be sad if they went black and white permanently.

No problem at all! I feel like the best stories of this kind are relatable ones, where we felt or experienced certain emotions and events in our lives and we'd like to share them in some way. But it's a bonus that it worked out it also helping you develop a project and get you some panel practice! Fair nuff! Creative burnout is the worst. Please do what you need to shelter that spark. Thank you for the kind words! The inspiration... well. Being honest, initially I just wanted to practice panel work and dialogue for a few pages before people really pushed for it to be a project. π But, when this started being a thing, I mainly projected my own teenage experiences and feelings, from the perspective of both Dachi and Levi. My next project might continue their story, or I might take a break to work on other characters entirely. Depends on how I'm feeling closer to the end, honestly - avoiding burnout is the main concern. Thank you for reading, and supporting my work!

I think manga-style would be great. I read for the plot (and Dachiβs facial expressions), so losing color in exchange for getting more story / story faster is a worthy trade off

The pacing issues were kinda weird... I didn't really notice them in my manuscript at the time, but when I did them for real it was like "Why did I end the page on this panel?" or "Starting this page this way feels really awkward" and there wasn't a way to correct course by that point. The comic really did feel like I was making it up as I went along because the manuscript sorta had to be done in chunks as I approached the end of what I'd previously written. I did have an end in sight, but getting there is proving to be a learning experience, haha. I think my next work will be much less awkward.

I wouldn't call this the usual scope creep exactly... but I get you. After I decided this was going to be a "project" I drew a manuscript outlining the paneling and script - the progression and ending has been set for a long time. The only real creep was deciding to make a story out of what was going to just be a throwaway practice run for panel layout and dialogue π

Scope creep is a terrible thing, adding everything, especially costs, and finishing nothing, I suggest having a firm plan before starting any project, such total project cost estimates and scheduling, which includes room for potential emergencies or delays. For greyscale, as long as each shade of grey is different enough to not confuse one shade with another then that would be fine, such as different greys having specific textures. Keeping it greyscale can also keep costs down. You could have full-color pages at an additional tier that releases later than the greyscale. Looking forward to the story's conclusion in April.
