Great take. I thought the same. You can see the pain in “Will’s” eyes at the time.
Karim
Prince looks like Omar from The Wire in this video 😆
Nicholas Burke
listened to this so many times and im still taking this in, the layers and depth while also bringing crazy flows and rhyme schemes is just insane. this album is going to prove that he is one of the best rappers EVER.
VibeVilla
True!
VibeVilla
Nice connection! Can definitely see/hear the parallels there

Finishing that up right now, will be up late tonight

Is the DAMN. reaction still coming out tonight?

Something I think about is when he switches to Will Smith’s face he says: “I want you to want me too” — could be addressing his relationship with Jada “Look what I’ve done for you” — addressing how he ‘defended’ Jada’s honor / slapped another man ‘for the culture’.

I’m surprised darae didn’t comment on the jay z line Kendrick samples in the beginning of the second verse 🤣

It reminds me of Mortal Man on TPAB. At the end of Pac’s interview, Kendrick asks about music and vibrations, and how the energy is transferred behind a mic. Pac responded that it’s the “spirits,” not them rapping. “We just letting our dead homies tell stories for us”.
Trey Alger
the part at the end where he takes the drums out and takes those deep breathes was him transitioning from being alive to being dead. then he speaks from the perspective of kobe and nipsey. so crazy and kdot is such a genius, so hype for the album tonight!
Kayen
Very last two words of the track is "emits still." But how he pronounces it? Emmett Till. Thus tying the whole track together between the generation of pain and how energy can carry and create change. Genius.
Colin
it's not only that the different parts of the song are from different perspectives, but you can look at each part from every perspective, getting so many different points of view there's so much to unpack in this song, Kendrick is amazing
SAM-WISE GAMGEE
Kendrick gave rappers 5 years to get their shit together and then came out with one track that put them on their ass. This album gonna be firrrrrreeeeeee
SAM-WISE GAMGEE
Only Kendrick tell you what the song is about in the first line and then still surprise everyone with the delivery. "It's all about perspective" and then the whole song is from different perspectives. DAMN. Go back and listen to that Emmet Till bar at the end. It's cold as fuck and I didn't even catch it on 6 listens. Only realized it when I watched the DEHH review
