The album is representation of his situation. It was good at start, bad in the middle due to transition and then towards the end it is better then start.

My problem with Big Sean these days is that there's so many artists out there these days that are way more creative and bring so much more to a track. His skill is undeniable but his music feels like it's missing that extra something to make him stand out. It ain't the physical album days anymore, I can listen to anyone.

Apologies for that comment man. I wasn't thinking too much in the moment when I typed it, but that's some negative energy I put out there. No more of that from me in the future, I was just disappointed by the album. As always, loved the reaction!

Well said. Sucks too because in 09-10 Big Sean was on FIRE and had the chance to really be one of the big 3 but the difference is Cole and Kendrick took that next step both in sound and subject matter and Drake just elevated with hits while Sean not only lessened his lyrics but also wasn't making the same hits as a Drake so he fell to that lower tier

On "It is what it is" I feel like he references most of the beef using cole flow from fps, kendrick flow from euphoria, and drakes adlib. I don't think he's dissing though, I think he tryna insert himself because in his mind he supposed to also be at the top. As a big Sean defender its one of my favorites on the album

Tyler the creator said it best [paraphrasing]: Rapping is his super power but it’s also his weakness. Sean just be rapping for raps sake and it works against him at times. It also doesn’t help when he raps about deep subjects from a surface level. What makes it worse is that the singles for the project are a misdirection from what the album really was intended to be. So all in all, he basically shot himself in the foot with a prop gun and then went on to say all guns are bad. Like he’s CLEARLY hurt by the real issues of life and your rap career but won’t go into any real detail because he’s either triggered or scared to pull it for himself.
