When Conductor's beat came on in my car, I can't tell you how excited I got. I actually liked 7 Minute Drill as a jab back to Kendrick given that Kendrick kinda just jabbed him, but the 2nd half was really where it heated up. Of course, now this is all irrelevant, but I was feeling good about this being a really entertaining battle for a bit

No shade to K dot I really fw Section 80, Good Kid & Damn. But idk what it is I just don’t like TPAB or Mr Morale. He’s spittin on there but it just sounds convoluted, boring, or just meh

Totally agree TPAB as a whole body of work was gassed, there are definitely some great individual songs but for example Ready to Die or Blueprint 1 are classics because each song is 10/10 can't say the same for TPAB. And Mr. Morale legit has two songs I go back to regularly and that's We Cry Together (mainly because Alchemist went insane on that beat) and Father Time but that's it.

Fair enough, I just think when you’re trying to consider an album to be a classic it has to be universal accepted to a certain degree. TPAB wasn’t that but somehow that album was gassed up to be greatest AOAT even though it wasn’t regarded as a great album from Kendrick in many people’s eyes. For example, I think KOD is amazing and should be considered a classic. However the general consensus on that album was that album was boring because people weren’t fucking with the production. I thought the beats were great but people at that time never expanded their music palette and just listened to same old trap beats, so they couldn’t appreciate the production on that album. Cole recognized that and when the route he did with his production on The Off Season and this recent one Might Delete Later.

well imma go ahead and say that TPAB is far from boring musically or sonically and isnt hard to revisit, whether we're talking the whole work or individual songs. Its true that a lot of the album warrants a specific mood or energy to enjoy, but thats not the same as being boring. It is not nearly as boring or one-dimensional as a lot of J Coles discography in my personal opinion. I like J Cole, but him being big 3 will always be a reach, he doesnt have the work to back it up.

One thing I love and appreciate about this album in relation to the beef is that Cole doesn’t go all in and show all his cards, but approaches it from a RAP standpoint, and dropped the album. He lets his skill and his work speak for him and that’s what it should come down to at the end of the day. Not shock value, not sales, not any of the other bs. He gave us 12 tracks of BARS. (11 if you don’t include 7MD, 10 if you not counting Fever lmao)

Loved the reaction! I think Cole played it as perfectly as you can with a warning shot knowing the relationship him and kdot got. But let’s get into some of these lines. I need to know honestly, no groupthink, how many of y’all listened to TPAB and not get bored or just thought it was a hard listen for an album. Because Cole’s got a point, I think everyone respects the album and what kdot did but how many of y’all go back to that album. The reason I bring it up is cuz Cole’s masterful for bringing that piece up cuz that’s always been the rumbling on the streets. TPAB when it came to being a perfect balance of lyricism and production, it was not it yet people call it a classic and even more the greatest AOAT, hence the “gassed it up” line hits hard. I don’t think cole is saying that album didn’t pushed boundaries but sonically the album as a whole is not it.
