I think the Maria was the reference to Maria Maria which wyclef did with Santana way back. It’s still not well produced but I think that is the connect. Edit: bochelli does sing ave Maria. It’s a big track for him when he blew up.

I think the problem with this album is two fold. 1. The structure is all off, there is no journey, its all very flat. These all feel like mixtape verses which could have been fine if not for point two 2. Waynes vocal performance is really weak on this album, hes damn near monotone through most of it and slurring his words half the time. He doesnt have the presence he usually has. That to me is the biggest blunder and is extremely fixable if he sees it as a problem too. I dont think its lyrically super weak but its not really justifying itself ether. The production is weak in places but I think even that would have been ok if not for points 1 and 2.

I get what yall are doing with the zooms when someone has a thought they are sharing - but maybe it’s time to think about switching the camera angles. Like if yall had three cameras with one on derae, one on prince, and one wide angle with you both. You could do the wide angle for the listening and duo moments, and the solo shots for individual takes. Almost like a podcasting setup. Just a thought. Definitely think it's the production, Wayne's silly consciousness on the album and exhaustive flow. Like you mentioned wayne bars are always easy to understand but always hit because it fit so well. When we remove the music aspect and just think about it, I do question his lyricality especially when he's in the talks with someone like method man or other MCs of that calibre. These are lyrics to forget rightfully so. Wonder if he pressured to put something out and if there's something more to that, but as of now this is just dissapointing.

"I turn gumbo to sushi" is a crazy bar. This might be a huge reach lol but its a double -- gumbo and sushi are two completely different foods, basically saying he's so good he has the power to change one thing into something completely different, the other bar being how he's going to take gumbo, something that is famously known from Lousiana, and change it to sushi, which is something that is, again, completely different. Edit: Im listening to these tracks for the first time, and I wrote this before I heard Prince break it down lmao

I'm 34 and for me the best of Wayne I heard was Carter 3 and 4 ,Theresa reason C4 sold nearly a mill first week and omg looking at the features it had the best of the best contemporary and old-school,C5 was amazing too just felt a bit old because of all the legal issues with the label, C6 tried to replicate the recipe of C3 mixed with C4 mixing rapp hip hop some pop some introspective songs and some funny trolling stuff with absurd collaborations but did not work at all sadly...I'm happy we God a Wayne project and I like at least 4 songs a lot 1.if a played a guitar 2. Flex one 3 . Sharks 4. Witten history Honestly even alone in the studio has some kind of vibe that I like we will see if it lasts.. anyway definitely half of the album should have been cut and put on sorry for the wait or mix before the six mixtape..I mean if you take 5 horrible songs from this and replace them with original singles of the album and add other 3-4 from the mixtape we got you may have a more then decent project that deserves the Carter legacy..
