While the music is a different flavor. The music in the original DBZ dub is sooo good! I definitely hope they watch original DBZ at some point but that's a crap ton of episodes.

By filler we meant more setup. Not filler as in traditional filler of anime where they are making stuff up to fill in the time so that manga can catch up. A primer maybe or appetizer would be better term? π€π€

To be fair. Is not really fillers, is part of the saga. Is just that the abridged episodes rushed through the anime. And also animes now days are super fast. I miss when you were able to absorb more from them

I guess it's more like what happened here. Important story for Videl, Gohan, and Goten? Yes. A little bit over done? Yes. Trunks and Vegeta training as well? Yes. Seeing Goku and King Kai back? Yes. A little gag too show Goku has indeed been training and still as strong as ever? Yes. Finally about to start the tournament? Yes? Going to show the tournament? Nope, next episode. It's filler, in a way, but not bad filler like so many animes.

Kai has very little filler if any. I've watched the Kai version of the buu saga recently, and I can confirm that every episode moves the story along in some way.

Since they are watching Kai i think there is less filler? honestly i never sat and watched Kai so i don't know for certain, but yeah, DBZ is the king of filler alongside a few other anime haha

That's Dragon Ball for you. They will legitimately drag on many episodes. You'll eventually see memes about how a five minute fight is expanded to five episodes. And 2 of those episodes will be about Goku falling and everyone's reaction to it.
