I was and still am a bit confused about the ending. But... If the same happened to Julius as what happened to Rem, Emilia wouldn't remember him. Although - he might still have lost his memory - or like - part of his identity. Something was up with how he asked if Subaru remembered him. I don't know. As an Anime only, I can't tell without watching some skipped content.

all 16 episodes next season are going to be great except maybe the first will lull people into a false sense of security. I can't wait for 15 weeks of "This is the best episode yet. OK thats a bit of an exageration; but trying to think of where oddballs will hate is nearly impossible. Now that we have gotten past the calm the we can suffer the storm.
