I had never known the term "cloth detail" before, but 100% I notice it too. There was a trailer for a game Ken and I were watching, I think maybe it was the new Witcher one and they had the evolution of the animation of the game within that trailer (or behind-the-scenes look) and what I noticed was the characters cloak as it hung off the back of the saddle while the horse was moving. Cloth detail can really make a difference between the realism of what you are watching or a jarring reminder that something is fake.

Caught up~ There is a great full version of this opening by Yoasobi with animations that I prefer to the anime opening, still without spoilers. They even made a great english version of it named 'The Brave', with a translation good enough to still keep up the rhyming. Highly recommend!

Fern is....sixteen now, I think? She and Stark are roughly the same age. When she said the previous episode that she's known Frieren most of her life, she wasn't exaggerating. Time is a major part of the plot in Frieren, and how quickly time seems to pass from her perspective. I'm pretty sure Frieren could have easily crushed that dragon if she'd wanted to. She didn't need those thirty seconds at all. She was probably just curious about Stark's abilities. This is the first episode that really highlights how much care the animators take with cloth physics. The way Stark's clothes ripple when he's being pulled along by the dragon, and Fern adjusting her robe when she sits on the stool is honestly amazing animation. It feels weird to say, but I pay a lot of attention to the cloth physics in Frieren; it's that kind of attention to detail that let you know the folks animating it love their craft.

Damn you are so right Bethany, this episode teaches us the lesson of having fun in one's journey. Lol I guess since you guys played Final Fantasy 16 recently, I thought of this example for you guys: don't just go for the main events in life, have fun doing side quests along the way and enjoy the moment(s).

Yeah, I seen pictures of them before I started watching. I thought she was in her 20’s or 30’s. I was like, “oh, she starts so small.” Frieren is similar to DB in that way. But it’s a really big plot device for Frieren since it’s about the passage of time and friends.

Most anime that are large have been going since the 90s, and the trend nowadays is 12 episodes cause kids cant keep attention. Frieren however is already getting its 2nd season next year due to its popularity

If you paid attention to the little timeline/intro that appears in the beginning of most eps, time is passing so yeah Fern is growing up as the months and years pass so her going into a growth spurt is noticeable but it's gradual. But Ken is right, it was mentioned in prev eps by Frieren. Fun fact: In the original Frieren didn't sing that line, it's one of the things the dub version changed/added. This is also the first ep to even mention The Hero of the South & his exploits. <3

If you haven’t noticed, a lot of anime are kind of like shows on Netflix. Perfectly fine television, but nothing really out of the ordinary. Stuff you’d put on when you’re bored or doing work. Many don’t even make it past a 12 episode 1st season. They serve mostly as commercials for the original material. All this to say: that dragon fight had more animation that a lot of anime have in their whole 12 episode run 😭
