Frieren was headpatting btw, not head massaging. It's not a common practice outside of Japan so it's a cultural thing.

This show captures those little moments of life so well. The way Freiren walks around places and is flooded with memories reminds me of the feeling taking leave to my home town for the first time after being gone for years. Just those surreal moments. I think the tone and pacing lends itself to that since those nostalgic moments often make everything slow down for a bit.
