Remember last episode Ken scoffed at Wirbel's experience and doubted he could beat Ubel? Well... unfortunately for Ken the hype Ehre did for Wirbel proved he had more experience than her due to years of fighting the remnants of the Demon King's army. To answer your questions, the 1st exam only had 2 conditions: Capture a Stille and bring it to the designated area by sunset the following day and have the full party present. So yes they all had to physically be there and capturing it without "turning it in" would mean you fail regardless. They never told the party members to kill each other or steal from others but they never discouraged it either, it was an obvious viable option they knew the test takers would resort to. A lot of people, reactors and Ken consider Richter to be a "douche" or "asshole" and it's understandable, however his personality is more of being pragmatic than an asshole tbh. Basically he's a realist who is blunt and doesn't care whose feelings he hurts. (P.S) You guys have seen Serie in the 1st opening.
