Catching up on this story so commenting a bit late. I'm a bit confused about Legends priorities. His reaction to finding out that Calvert was Coil was not horror that he was a villain and kidnapper and possibly a lot of other terrible things, no Legend was upset that a cape managed to get into the PRT. What? The fact that someone like Calvert managed to become Director is a huge problem. The fact he's a cape is almost minor compared to the rest, yet that is the first, and only thing Legend appeared to care about. I expect that isn't actually true, but it's all we see in the POV in this chapter.

I found the end absolutely hilarious! "Did Miss Wilbourn know something that he didn’t?" For anyone who isn't a "Thinker" pondering this question, the answer is uh… yes, that's a hole with no bottom.

This is off-base. Particularly the bit about listening to Contessa. Legend doesn't know who Contessa is, nor does he know anything about her power. He knows she exists, and has seen her at Cauldron's base, but always in the company of Doctor Mother, leading him to assume that she is Doctor Mother's personal assistant/bodyguard. Also, it's not that he chooses not to know about the shadier shit Cauldron gets up to, they have actively worked to hide most of what they do from him, using Contessa's paths to make sure he never figures out just how low they've sunk. This is why it turns into such a knock-down-drag-out argument between Legend, Eidolon and Alexandria when Eidolon's Echidna Clone spills the beans.

So to be true to his character Legend would try to compromise. He is a genuinely nice guy and a good hero. He just is also the most naive person I have ever seen in fiction. He knows that Cauldron does shady shit but does his best to not know the details. He absolutely would lecture them if he knew they allowed Canary’s railroading in canon, Coil’s BS, and any number of other heinous things they do but he’d eventually go along if Contessa said it was for the Greater Good. I want the first option, and it will win, but Legend would absolutely do the second or third options. Oh he’d be upset about the third but ‘The Path’ is the only option if they want to win. Even if it is impossible to win except by complete accident as in canon.
