Oh wow...Stannis is REALLY struggling with the strain of trying to be the most moral and upstanding man in Westeros, isn't he? I'm honestly of two minds about him leaving the position of the Hand of the King...he definitely loves his nephew but if he can't fully accept the collective insanity that surrounds Axel or that Axel involves himself in, then getting someone who can better be on Axel's wavelength to take over is the right course of action. But the other part of me is all "No...Stannis...Axel needs someone who won't be a yes-man and can be trusted to offer a respectful opposition to crazy ideas so their flaws can be IDed and fixed".

The talk with Stannis truly was the highlight of this chapter. Sad to see him so.. tired. I hope Axel will find a good choice to replace his uncle and let him go where he feels he really belongs.
