No one really cares about who wins. The task, the show or the series. It’s just a structural device for the comedy gold offered up by each challenge. Mike getting so upset over how points are awarded has to be the most American thing about these reactions. It’s not about the winning, it’s about the funny. You’ve 20 seasons to this epic show, and by the time you’re there it’ll be more like 26 seasons in total. It’s astonishing how much legs this show still has, and how original and fresh it continues to be.

The item that Frank brought in was based on the esure insurance tv adverts here in the UK. The film director Michael Winner appeared in these ads & his catchphrase in these adverts was “Calm down dear”. That was Michael Winner’s voice you heard saying the catchphrase.

Josh Widdicombe tried to justify it by saying he won the point for being the most affable contestant. Every contestant had the same opportunity to be affable and have the Taskmaster choose them for the counting tasks. Josh was the most affable and therefore won that task. It sounds like bullshit to me.

one of the things i love about taskmaster is that regardless if i know of or care about any of the contestants going into a season, I usually like or at least appreciate them all by the end. They do a good job of covering bases with the cast so I usually relate to someone. Out of the nearly 20 seasons there are only 1 or 2 where I think the cast negatively impacted my view of that series

Fun fact this is the only episode of the entire show where the title isn't a quote from within the episode. Josh winning is controversial in that he won by one point which means the point he got for counting the beans etc won him the show. The other contestants didn't get a chance to do that so it's kind of unfair. This was the early days of Taskmaster and the competition element of it is taken more seriously as the show goes on but there are still a fair few controversies to come!

God these are always a quick hour <3 Having watched these episodes a LOT before, I love seeing how wrong your guesses for who will win each task can get, "Oh so and so's my pick" - you are in for a surprise haha! It's far more entertaining rewatching these with you two than on my own. There's soooo many moments in upcoming series I am wondering what you'll make of them <3 The first Series 20 of Taskmaster came out today, so you have a good bit more ahead of you! I won't spoil them, but you will notice a few changes to the show starting next series once it has properly found its feet. You'll see plenty of familiar faces as you go, I won't spoil them (though you may have read about some of them anyway). Anyway enough of my essays, here are some tidbits/answers to questions etc that I scribbled down while I was watching: This first series was released in 2015. By the way, Josh is 5'7" and Greg is 6'8". The difference looks even greater when they are side by side though. And Josh did actually audition to be a hobbit in Lord of the Rings, and for the role of Bilbo in The Hobbit! He has not only the right look and stature, but a suitable accent too! 😅
